Blue superman

can any one give me some info about how he became this way and what his new powers (if any) are?

To contain this new body, Superman's own nemesis Lex Luthor and S.T.A.R. Labs' Professor Emil Hamilton designed a special suit. It took a while for Superman to adjust to his new energy-based powers. But just as he does, the villainous team-up of the Cyborg and Toyman, in their attempt to destroy the new Superman, surprisingly resulted in a split into two energy beings that would be dubbed Superman Blue, with a more passive and subdued personality, and Superman Red, with a more aggressive and volatile personality. When the two realised of their coexistence, they would first butt heads, but eventually realised that they had to work together if they were to reunite. It took the threat of the Millenium Giants, and the two Supermen's monumental battles against them that followed, for them to merge into the one true, original Superman.

What do you need to know exactly?
He can make forcefields.
Control all forms of energy.
Teleport.
Open Dimensional rifts.
Be come intangible.
Change appearance.
Is still ridiculously super strong.

Wasn't this new, electric Superman DC's attempt to revamp the character for the new millenium? Wasn't it supposed to be permanent? However, reader feedback said Don't change the formula!, and so they needed a story for bringing Regular Supes back, something I dont believe DC was planning on originally.

Superman red was created when Cyborg attempted to drain supermans energy. What ended up happening was the opposite...it split Supes in 2.

I don't think they were. His "comeback" was poorly done, and neither change was explained at all.

As permanent as The Death Of Superman, just a few years earlier? roll eyes (sarcastic)

Even if he sold well, they were going to go back to the original. Superman shouldn't look like Firestorm.
