Comic Books on UMD

I have a press release about Night Warrior which is going to be released on the Playstation UMD.

What do you guys think of this idea? Would you buy it? Will the idea catch on?

NIGHT WARRIOR COMES TO UMD!

Raging Psycho Comics, in association with Silver Platter and UMD Lab, is pleased to announce the forthcoming worldwide release of the popular ground breaking online comic series ' Night Warrior' on UMD (universal Media Disk for the Playstation Portable) in the first quarter of 2007.

'Night Warrior', the fortnightly updated web & print based comic book, follows insomniac and accidental cult hero Jeff Winters' as he slides into conflict with scheming crime lords and twisted psychopaths in a city teaming with disaffected and desperate villains!

The UMD release will collect the full first season arc of the blistering martial arts action vigilante tale, and see 'Night Warrior' once again breaking new ground becoming the first independent comic book title to be released on this new format.

In transferring 'Night Warrior' to a new medium, Silver Platter will bring the experience to new heights, with several exciting interactive enhancements to be announced over the coming months. Further to this, the UMD will be packed full of extra issues from the expanded Night Warrior: Chronicles universe, including exclusive issues and features.

In addition, Raging Psycho Comics will be launching a special enhanced website to take advantage of the web capabilities and cross compatibility of the Playstation Portable and UMD format, once again taking the experience to a new, exciting level.

Brighton based Raging Psycho Comics was founded in 2004 Phil Hobden and Ross Boyask, the producer – director team behind UK action feature film 'Left For Dead' and leading genre feature film production company Modern Life?.

Silver Platter is the world's first independent UMD label. Founded in 2005, the company has already made a number of titles available worldwide. Their success lies in an acute perspective of what the UMD market wants, focusing their catalogue on "bite size" entertainment.

Stay tuned for more details!

I have the PSP and UMD disks are as cool as they get. (A lot better than tiny loseable NDS chips) But As much as I love comics, I don't think it would. It would put our great comic retailers out of busisness. And that could hurt alot of our poorer members who can't afford the PSP them selves. Especially when sony makes special comics only avaliable on UMD. They'll do that.

Point Being: Some win some lose, some prosper some don't.... all in all... I don't think I'd be too popular. Like people and DVD players. Some people still have VCRs.

Thanks for the feedback.

Incidentally Night Warrior will still be released in shops I assume around the same time, and as far as I know it always will be. I don't think anyone at RPC wants it any differently. But I understand the concern.

Hey, feedback and serious questions come to me. But seriously, I barely buy comics now. (You realize it takes alot of guts for a girl to walk into a comic book shop alone?)People prefer to buy comics the old fashioned way. I'm not saying everyone is like that. But to each their own.

I agree with Spidey's sister. This is win/lose scenario. Unfortunately for me and my lack of a PSP, much less my lack of money to buy UMD's, I probably will fall on the losing side of the fence.

I do think its a great idea and actually was thinking the other day about how long it would take for something like this to happen.

UMD's are too expensive for a comic to be released on them . For a basic movie (with no extra features) it's $/£20.00 . Not only that but i hear their going to be scrapping the UMD system soon , it's too expensive and temperamental they say....

Oh great, I like UMD and I like taking movies with me wherever I go. Off course it takes up battery life by loads which gives me a few minutes to play games.
