Really, Durron's that good?

Why the hell does he never do anything then? If he's really as good as ROTS Sidious, he could have taken Caedus.

Durron's fairly inconsistent. On the one hand, he was able to replicate one of Luke's greatest feats (manipulating the dovin basal). On the other hand, I believe he was defeated by a single Slayer during the Vong war.

So he has the Skywalker factor. God-like one moment, scabby pussy the next. Gotcha.

Where would you rate him power-wise then? Do you think he could take Caedus?

and then on the other hand, it was said that he did Luke's greatest feat easier than Luke did.

He has also stated on more than one occasion that "he was more powerful than luke, he knew." (in his thoughts)

He could be wrong, but as someone who has worked with luke for so long, is it likely that he is very very wrong?

I'd say, power-wise, he's upper tier in the new Jedi Order. All things considered, he probably rivals Kyle and Saba. I'd put Caedus slightly higher and, of course, Luke's above all of them.

The fact that they did not think to send Durron against Caedus makes me believe that the Council was not confident that in his victory.

that wasn't really an attempt to kill Caedus if you remember, it was a plan to plant a tracking device.

which is really really really stupid if you think about it. Why bother with the tracking device if you can just send the right Jedi master's instead and finish him.... Send freaking luke kyp, kyle, saba, and the war ends right there in about 8 seconds...

They would have killed him if they could.

so yeah, it was just a poorly planned mission. if they had really wanted a kill, every single one of those jedi knights would have been masters.

It's been a while since I've read the book, but I'm fairly certain that Kyle and co. wouldn't pass up an opportunity to end Caedus there if the situation allowed. Kyle's the Jedi Order's battle master and likely their most gifted combatant in terms of technical skill and expertise (with Luke being equal to or superior, of course). Durron's got some intense strength in the Force, but he's probably not as fine of a duelist.

Putting one's eggs in a basket is pretty risky, which is why Luke used it as a last resort in Invincible. Caedus was in command of the Alliance military machine. As powerful as the Jedi are, the risk would be too high that Caedus would have something up his sleeve.

I can't argue that, kyp has never been shown in combat, which is weird.... I am hoping that changes eventually.

Obviously he is in awe of Luke and so we can't even acknowledge this quote as evidence at all. That would be cherrypicking. laughing out loud

no expression
laughing
