Both are due this up-coming May and both will be good and do good in the box office. Which one do you think will best the other and by how much, do you think.
Who do you think can or will win the box office face-off starting this May...

Spiderman just isn't as popular and isn't as good as Pirates...from me watching the last two, nothing really hapenned that made me remember anything significant, they were good movies and I liked them, but they just won't be able to outdo Pirates.
it depends on whether or not spidey turns out being another teeny bop movie, if so then the wretched film that has become the jhonny depp franchise (pirates of mainstream cinema) will definently make more money. If spidey3 is infact somthing original and offers more of a character that we have seen in the comics then i dont think there is any way that the demographic that potc appeals to will summon more of an aduience than the fandom of spiderman. Both of these movies appeal to a broad aduince of the same blood, but spiderman has a built in loyal fanbase that pirates doesnt. However, spidey 3 will probably just be more of spiderman2

They are your opinions though, don't forget that, somebody may think differently and that logic could be used with a different result.
Onto the topic of the wider audience, I think that Pirates of the Carribbean reaches a much wider demographic than Spiderman, from what I've seen that is.
Of course, Depp is one of the main reasons for that, he attracts all kinds of crowds, from the arthouse to those who have every Bruckheimer film but don't even who Bruckheimer is, all of different ages.
I personally enjoy Pirates of the Carribbean much more than a Spiderman film (which I felt were rather mediocre, plus the Green Goblin looked like a Power Rangers villain), it's much easier for me to slip into the story than it is to Spiderman, and has more of a sense of an event movie about it.
I'll be seeing Pirates of the Carribbean. I'll be giving Spiderman a miss.
if Sam raimi appologizes for casting tobey maguire as Spiderman at the end of the movie. I will personally dontate enough money to make sure that spidey 3 grosses enough money to set a record

Personally I don't know anyone who I would cast as Spiderman, no actor I know however. I also don't think films should be made "just because they can". Often they are, and they end up comprimising. I didn't want to see Spiderman as a film in the first place, but as I said, that's my opinion.
I dont know, i guess i shouldnt be so hard on maguire. I'm sure my gripe with PArkers character is script related. MAguire's performance in the spiderman films are very monatone to me. He seems to have only two emotions through both of the movies. Calm or distrout. I have been a spiderman fan since i can remember. However, i'm not one of those fan boys that criticize every aspect of the films. I thought the movies are very well made, ididdnt even mind the organic webbing. spiderman and parker just come across as a pussy to me in the fims. MAguire is always whining and complaining as parker. Spiderman was a very confident, arogant and domineering type of character in the comics. Where his character in the films are nearly the exact opposite of these traits, so like i said the problem i have with the character probably goes deeper than just the acting performance.

Spiderman is more likely to dominate the box office than POTC 3 due to the strong fanbase in favour of the spiderman comics. Although if I were to choose, I would rather see POTC 3.
