dentaphobe!!!!!
Damn it!!!!!
I've got to have a root canal done later today and I'm a super wuss when it comes to the dentist.
Last time I had to have some work done, he hit a nerve in one of my teeth and I punched him for it
any advice would be grateful as I'm dreading actually having it done AND the pain afterwards when the anasthetic wears off
if you experience pain after the procedure, let him know and he may prescribe some percocets. there's no reason you should be suffering when its all over with.

Ive had two root canals done, didnīt find it that bad actually. Seeing as the nerve is normally dead when they do this there shoulndīt be much pain really. When the dentist screwed the bigger screwy springy thing in to be pulled out, that was unpleasant, but wasnīt really mega bad at all.
What I do is try to relax by breathing deeply so Im nearly asleep and try to ignore the pain if the dentist happens to dig the flesh bit.
What was really bad was when I had a syst removed and the doc cut a massive gash in the gum and filed down my root tooth bit with a electonic sanding device, that was really bad.

Oooo sounds nasty! thanks for the advice, I'm hoping that the dentist will let me have my MP3 player on and hopfully that will drown out the noise of the drill a bit.
I'm just hoping that it will a straight forward procedure and that nothing unexpected will come up like the last time! they discovered that I had more nerves in my back teeth than I should have had, was a little tricky, I had to be sedated so they could do the work.
Has the dentist already opened the tooth and put something in it to kill the nerve off. I thought this was well cool experience the way the nerve made a sort of clicking noise over the weeks or so when this stuff was closed in.
Or are they going to do it with a live nerve, Im not sure how they do it in other countries.

I do take care of my teeth! religiously twice a day or more if i get the chance. I have naturally white teeth which in dental terms is no protective enamel at all! my mum has the same problem!
it means my teeth are like sponges and just absorb any kind of sugar or acid they come in to contact with.
Plus I have a dairy intolerance which also hasnt helped.
any ways, as it turned out, I didnt quite need a root canal lol lucky me!
He started drilling and found that there was still some good tooth left, only a little mind. so I just ended up with a really deep filling and I didnt feel a thing, oddly enough, until 9.30pm
next oppointment is for two cosmetic fillings (why I dont know it just in me dental plan!!!) and a proper clean from the dentist which I've been asking him to do for like the last year and a half!!!!!

you jammy sod!!!
I dont eat alot of sweets though! I eat more fruit than any thing else which is the problem. fruit contains as many naturally occuring acids and sugars as sweets, chocolate and coarbonated drinks do except they are artificial.
