Ok, Surfer leads Galactus to DC earth. All the DC superheroes/villains bands together and manage to utterly destroy the surfer but they were too late (lets assume it took too long for them to stop bickering with each other on what exactly to do. Let's also assume that the Spectre is nowhere to be found...) as he's already led Galactus to DC earth. In a massive battle, Galactus manages to subjugate the assembled heroes and prepares to munch on the planet. In a fit of Supreme heroism, Superman offers himself to Galactus as his herald if Galactus spares earth. Galactus agrees.
He empowers Superman with the Power Cosmic and wipes out his mind just as he did the Surfer and they fly off to seek other worlds.
Decades later... Superman comes accross OA and decides that this world is perfect food for his master. The Guardians figure that if they can destroy cosmic-powered Supes before he can inform Galactus, they stand a chance of stopping their planet from being eaten. They figure that they prevent him from leaving OA and then destroy him before Galactus arrives. They figure they have less than an hour to do so. They summon all the Gls who can arrive on time and brace themselves for the battle ahead.

So basically, the Kryptonian, but with all of Superman's experience? Tough call.
He would probably go down eventually, but trying to kill him in less than an hour with his abilities could be problematic.
If Galactus shows up after the hour, then do we assume they fail the thread challenge?
I'm gonna say it's 50/50 if they can kill him in an hour, if he's being evasive and trying to stay alive rather than trying to kill as many GLs as possible. If however, he goes on the offensive ala bloodlust, he will go down, simply because he's way outgunned.

Bear in mind this superman has decades of experience using the Power Cosmic. Also, his mind has been wiped similar to the Surfer's when he started serving Galactus. He sees the Lanters/Guardians/OA as just another planet and its inhabitants for his master to consume. He has no qualms about using lethal force if they get in his way. Basic procedure for preparing a planet for master's arrival will be followed.
The Guardians/GL Corps will also be using deadly force with no hesitation as they know that their existence is at stake here.
Also, how much casualties is OA looking at here in terms of level of devastation/deaths/collateral damage before they manage to take down Supes?
They can also use the hour for prep purposes but the time it takes to call in reinforcements must also be considered...
did u see what they did in SCW..nothing..and Boodikka hurt one of them with a stupid construct..pretty s**k for someone who can crack a planet in half with a thought if u ask me
Um.... Hmmm well After observing the planet and the inhabitants. A smart herald would know the power levels of the Guardians and the GLs that protect them. IMO I think Supes would amp himself before the confrontation. With the Amp of THe unlimited energy source within him. He might just take it. 99.9% are trash anyway Guardians and the top say 10 GLs are a threat to him.
Yeah, non-amped, he's easy pickings. But with Power Cosmic Amp combined with his already vast physical powers, he should be more than a threat to the GL's.
I mean, whats to stop him from just speed blitzing everyone? This is Superman with the Power Cosmic. He should be moving faster or just as fast as the Flash Fully Amped and be hitting as hard as heck with cosmic powered super fists. Coupled with cosmic awareness, he's a viable threat to the Guardians.
Also, normal heralds have been known to crack planets in two. Superman with the Power Cosmic should be well above that.
