X/1999 - Tokyo Babylon's sequal (very angst & sad anime/manga!)
I made a thread on this about 4 years ago but since it's so old & because I spoiled the ending for the movie (what a n00b! XD), I thought a new thread would be best.
The old's thread here so feel free to delete it. http://www.killermovies.com/forums/...ghlight=x+clamp
Before I state my own opinion's, I'll tell you a little about this anime/manga without the spoilers.
Kamui Shirou returns to Tokyo after a 6 year absence & meets up with two childhood friends, Kotori & her older brother Fuuma. Fate starts to take place which will change Kamui's life forever & the people around him, as Kamui means "God".
He has the choice to what will happen to the world; protect it as it is & it's people, or destroy all human population so the Earth can re-new itself/be reborn.
Along the way he will meet with comrades & enemies; Dragons of Heaven (protect the Earth & people) & Dragons of Earth (destroyers of Earth.) In a way both sides are good, but that isn't a good thing when you're dealing with a DoE...
As I said, this is a sequal to TB, the story of Subaru, Seishiro & Hokuto 9 years before X/1999, so to understand X/1999 a bit better, read the manga first (no tv series I'm afraid. )
Anyway, I checked out the tv series last year & it's fantastic, as is the manga! The movie isn't all that great when I think about, but at the time I just thought it was a cartoon for adults basically with a different style (I hadn't heard of anime yet.)
Pity I didn't check out the series back in 2006, but I just forgot! >_< I hate myself for it now! Since then I've become a big fan of X/1999 or X Clamp, whatever you wanna call it. I even make music videos & parodies of it on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/user/DarkBandicoot
It also got me into boy love. Hey, don't worry, I don't dig just any shounen-ai/yaoi & aren't that wild on it unless the storyline's good, which so far a lot of shounen-ai/yaoi animes aren't.
I just support canon pairings, so I support two boy pairings in X/1999 & that's one good thing X/1999 has, good storyline. One particular pairing is so angst & sad, it breaks my heart! :'(
If you've read the manga/watched the anime, keep posting your thoughts & all below, as I wish the first post to be spoiler-free, but at some point I want to be able to talk about those spoilers below!
