A well written Omega Effect is hard enough to avoid for super fast, high endurance sorts. For all of Volstagg's strengths, mobility isn't one of them.

He can try guarding against it, but unless his sword's guard is equivilent to Wonder Woman's Aegis shield, which blocked the likes of Nekron and multiple Skyfathers, he should go down...

The Omega effect doesn't work on such large volumes of mass as Volstagg - they would burn out before disintegrating or transporting him. And remember there are two Volstaggs to contend with in this fight as per the OP, so even if he managed to remove one the other will have reached DS by then and then it's checkmate and game over.
