I saw a scan of Hulk pummeling Thor with his own hammer and wondered if it was 616 canon, I never known Thor could lose to the Hulk. Which is why I find this event highly questionable. A friend of mine tells me that it was a story being told by some guy in a interview who made the whole thing up just to try and convince Bruce Banner to give him an autograph. I have the name of the book it's called "Hulk Let The Battle Begins #01". Is it all true, did the guy lie about the entire Hulk versus Thor confrontation, did this even take place on Earth 616 or is it all non-canon?
Here's another question: I have Thor #73 "The Betrayed" and Thor lays waste to the Thing and Hulk which is why I find the whole Hulk, "Let The Battle Begin" encounter with Thor confusing. In Thor 73 was that a future version of Thor? (perhaps he becomes stronger in the future) Could that be the reason why he was able to kill both The Thing and Hulk without Odin Force or Mjolnir?
I smell bad writing some where. I need answers.

Agreed, the book was terrible. Both books were in hindsight.
Is it true though that the guy from the interview made the whole thing up? I'm assuming since the book was canon, his interview was but does that mean he didn't lie about the Hulk beating Thor?
Just trying to get to the bottom of this.

the writer the guy who wrote hulk bashing thor's face in is jesse blaze snider, he also did an interview about his idea and even showed how ignorant he was about the character he wrote.
he answered fans on comicbookresources about his controversial take on hulk and thor.. b4 he got tired of answering questions..
he even compare Thor strength lvl to wonder woman and not equal to superman. he then compared the strength of Hulk's strength to supes
he also blamed the artist for that scene and said he didnt write it in..
the dude was just ignorant overall on the characters that he was writing and it showed.
