Mxy. Most universal/multiversal concepts (like Dream) do not apply to him... They are his to manipulate.

There are some members of the Endless, however, that even Mxy is subject to on some level (ie. Destiny.)

Not really. I'm a huge Neil Gaiman fan, and I have no problem using them.

I don't know that it "cheapens" the characters, but they certainly aren't suited for a vs. format.

Stories involving the Endless and similar characters are mostly focused on the characters and the storytelling -- and to accomplish this without it being stupid the writers tie the characters' hands with rules/consequences or what some might consider PIS/CIS.

So no, it doesn't cheapen, but it's not a great format.

Hm, what sway do you think Dream would have? Mxy can literally warp the entire concept of 'dream' into whatever the heck he wants... Or just erase it entirely.

Ah, gotcha.

But the the fella in that scene wasn't Morpheus, it was 'Mopius'(an obvious spoof) who was found within a comic from Mxy's personal 5D comic collection... It's ~~really hard~~impossible to gauge how powerful that Dream analogue was.

Aside from that, the funniest part about the scene (which many people overlook) is that Mxy actually 'tanked' the very same 'monologue-attack' from Mopius that put Ultimator in an eternal sleep:
