Persuader slashes his ax and cuts Thor's connection to his Magic and Nova's connection to his powers. He slashes again and cuts air from reaching them. True story.
thor doesn't have to breathe and "connection to his magic" seems like a vague concept considering the hammer is enchanted with it's own abilities and a worthy individual uses it, though thor does have a connection at some level if you want to get really technical, but he could still throw it at like mach 10 at persuader's sternum
Persuader also went toe to toe with both superboy and mon-el on different ocassions on brute strength and even using his axe as a blunt weapon knocked out superboy once. As for cutting things goes, I wouldn't be surprised if he cuts mjolnir in half.
these types of statements really hold very little weight when you consider how inconsistent pre-crisis showings are. iirc persuader really didn't have notable superstrength other than what you surmise from his origin planet and vague encounters with others. the axe was his whole clan's schtick
maybe he has something but honestly, a lot of pre crisis strength feats not done by a handful of characters, and guys like persuader have stats just attributed to them by clashing with someone with strength feats, and those feats are dubious looking at their career as a whole retardedly powerful, but the guy using it.... compared to modern storytelling you could make a claim that he'd get hit possibly and simply parish

LOSH was one of the most consistent comic series in terms of power levels. This "pre-crisis was so inconsistent, I can throw all the showings any character I want" logic is retarded. Pre-crisis was no more inconsistent than today where thor clips phoenix force's wings and gets ass raped by phoenix five easily. You mean like Thanos, Orion, Captain Marvel and countless other characters? He also had super-strength.

you'd be hardpressed to show any strength feats from him, even thanos/doomsday/despero/etc who never lifted a thing can be gauged. if you want to call him a strength guy, go ahead but you are not convincing me that's for sure. clashing with superboy isn't enough.
"today's storytelling" as in less goofy. thor is in a real slump, but his actual stats don't seem to be super high, then super low. panther's armbar is globally panned by everyone who's seen it, it's called PIS.

Like thanos/despero/orion are hard to gauge without fights. Why would be "clashing superboy in a direct contest of strength" isn't enough? Because he once got koed in an electric fence tripped with kryptonite which is conveniently left out? LOSH wasn't goofy, you're generalising everything from silver age. So thor getting koed by a random laser is not inconsistent? The writer and editor of that book didn't thought so, who cares about what a bunch of vs board members think.
Funny you mention COIE, LOSH wasn't altered in COIE. The crisis was a mistake and since then DC had to solve problems created by it and isn't successfull yet.
