What's left for a scientist to do in the Star Wars universe?

 What's left for a scientist to do in the Star Wars universe?

I've come to the conclusion that science has basically plateaued in the Star Wars galaxy and everything has already been done or proved impossible to do. Most science is purely observational and centered around making things bigger/smaller or more efficient. HOWEVER, their might be one or two things left to squeeze out.

The field of Physics is most certainly dead, but other fields might have something.

Any ideas?
