You see, I believe there are decent people and people who basically aren't. Amongst desent people we can disagree. For instance Imp believes transwomen are not women, I disagree, I believe a women's psyche can exist in a man and vice versa, obviously biologically he is right and instinctually I am not attracted to dick. That said, he is and Adam is, which I also don't have a problem with and believe is a good thing, anything that brings love and affection between consenting adults in my opinion is fine.
You and I often disagree, but I see you as a decent person and our disagreements are never morally abhorrent. The other kind of people spread lies, it's not about differences of opinion with them; it's about ignorance and bigotry. I do not believe those people can be engaged with rationally, because they are irrational.

I don't disagree with any of that but you don't change people's minds by allowing them to stew with others with the same opinions as them. There will be some, maybe many, maybe the majority, who will never change their minds. But the attempt is still worth it for the few who do.
You shouldn't moderate people's opinions, no matter how abhorrent. Only the manner of how they express those opinions.

Therein is another point where we can politely disagree. I genuinely believe some people are so stupid they need protection from misinformation', because it can affect everyone and not just them. Look at Covid misinformation, Trumper actions caused how many people behaving sensibly to die. Jan 6 hurt so many people who weren't buying into the big lie. Some types of censorship are needed imo, to protect people from themselves, and others from other people.
And yet all those people were stewing in echo chambers without anyone challenging their opinions.
It's essentially cult like with people being encouraged to distance themselves from people who don't agree with them on whatever issue it is until it becomes complete isolation coupled with a feedback loop.

In a nutshell, yes! Particularly, as the easily influenced by stupid ideas can seriously be affected easily by them; affecting them, and other people detrimentally. For instance, the rhetoric of the Nazi's, led to people killing jews. The rhetoric of Trump, led to people taking Ivermectin and Storming the Capitol, both leading to deaths. The internet allows groups of stupid people, to meet other groups of agreeing stupid people, in order to be triggered into doing stupid things by stupid ideas, all too easily!
