Somebody in ragdoll territory like that - and the disparity between Kota and Vader is made pretty clear through the rest of the series - isn't going to matter that much if the teammate also isn't on the opponent's level. See: Dooku vs. Obi Wan and a restricted Anakin, and the duo were actually beating Dooku before Obi Wan got ragdolled.
