We're now on day 4 of this global tech outage which happened because of Crowdstrike. it's apparently a world-wide shitshow, but I remain unaffected. Has this been screwing up your day/week/life in any way. if so, how? They claimed that it wasn't a cyber attack, so maybe you disagree and have conspiracy theories to share. Discuss...

I've had nothing, but some other co-workers had their computers go blue-screen and our IT dept has been putting in a few extra hours since early Friday morning.
I did wonder if it was an attack and Crowdstrike decided that it looked better for them if they ran with "moron worker messed up" vs "we were hacked and used to attack".
Nope, but I got really lucky. I flew home like 4 or 5 hours before it started, so I dodged a bullet, had my plane left later, or the next day, it would have been canceled indefinitely, from the sound of it.

I don't know much about coding, some here and there, but zero as it pertains to the topic...but I do know the concept of "getting rid of the baby with the bathwater", which TIL is what happened here. Someone "fixed" a bug by deleting a huge essential body of code which contained it, and that's what partially stopped the world. now let's all laugh at the stupid coder, bandaid the wound, and ignore the glaring world-tech infrastructure vulnerability
