The Maker is trying to assemble the Infinity Gauntlet (with a twist)
(please log in to view the image)
6 identical copies of the Maker each have one of the infinity stones (power, time, reality, soul, space, mind). They are all dropped into an arena with one goal in mind - one of them MUST assemble a completed Infinity Gauntlet in order to win.
so it's basically a quickdraw to see which stone can overpower the other stones the fastest.

The assumption that they are competent wielders might be the deciding factor, actually. IIRC the Power Gem has the shallowest learning curve, so match starts, the Power Maker will be the quickest (relatively) to be a proficient in its use....
Not definite, but it seems to me that the Maker with the reality gem could skip the middle man and open by altering reality so that the gauntlet is assembled on his hand
It's essentially a quick-draw scenario where the outcome is random. For example, whether the Time gem stops time first, the Mind Gem takes control of everyone's mind first, the Power Gem disintegrates everyone first, or the Reality Gem turns everyone into mindless tables, etc.
Then the learning curves come into play. The Power gem user becomes competent first, as it were - can he do enough damage before the Time gem user becomes competent? Whilst the Time gem user is gaining expertise, can the Soul gem user do anything? Etc etc.
True, but tbf most of the gems seem pretty easy for "beginners" to use(at least on a basic level) -- the reality and soul gems are undoubtedly the most difficult to get a handle on. So if we assume each character is an inept user with only basic knowledge on the gems, then whoever has the time gem probably wins by doing exactly what Rune did.
If we assume they're competent wielders, however, then still the soul gem.
if this is a quickdraw then each gem user has the ability to oneshot all the others with a thought, and that's what happens. they all die and no one wins.
There hasn't ever been a more competent Soul Gem wielder than Adam Warlock, true. But I'd posit that Adam is much more than merely "competent" with the Soul Gem. The Soul Gem & Adam Warlock have been intrinsically tied to each other from nearly the beginning.
I doubt that anybody could ever become as intrinsically and intimately tied with the Soul Gem as Adam Warlock ever was to suggest that any user could enjoy Adam Warlock's feats w/ the Soul Gem. Not without extensive prep, which doesn't appear to be the case here.
