my favorite artists would probably be joe quesada (sword of azrael was awesome), john romita and john romita jr (JJR makes some pretty stylish stuff) and sal buscema from some spectacular s-mans from the early nineties. frank miller's good as well. (his daredevil and batman stuff is cool )

denny o'neil and tom defalco are probably my favorite writers

I don't really like any of Crichton's recent works, although I have to say that sphere was a really good one. My fav Crichton book has to be the Andromeda Strain

The best comic artists or comic writers are:

1. Alan Moore: the writer from "From Hell", "The League of extra-ordinary gentlemen", "Top 10", "V for Vendetta", "The Killing Joke" and of course the great "Watchmen".

2. Frank Miller: a true genius, just look at Sin-City or "The Dark Knight returns" or "Hard Boiled".

3. Stan Lee: Marvel would look completely different if he weren't there.

4. Jack Kirby: not the greatest artist ever, but still a good one, and he was responsible for the looks of lots of known superheroes.

5. John Byrne: always good fun to read. And his stories aren't too bad either.

6. John Romita jr: again, a great artist

7. Bill Watterson (Calvin and Hobbes)

and for the others I forget: sorry guys, but you also rock !!

Neil Gaiman is the best comic book writer. He's a damned tallented prose writer, too.

Whilce Portacio. He covered Uncanny during bishiop's arrival and increased Icemans powers. A good artist usually does more than just draw good art.
