Tina Ellison bought a digital camera Thursday at Wal Mart. She noticed the seal on the box had been broken.
She bought it anyway, as a gift for her 14-year-old daughter. When she got it home, her daughter turned it on and found the Internal Video Memory full with video of a naked man.
"They were like Mom! Mom! That's all they kept yelling, Mom! Mom!" said Ellison. "He was playing with himself. Yes, he was indulging himself..."
Ellison immediately brought the camera back to Wal Mart where the staff looked at the images. Ellison then called police.
When the officer arrived, he discovered additional images of the naked man with children.
Pornography alone is not illegal. But when children are involved, criminal charges are possible. Police have to determine the age of the children.
Ellison asked why the camera's memory wasn't erased if the camera was used and returned to the shelf.
"My issue was my children. Wal Mart exposed my children to pornography video. Not just pictures, actual video."
"It may be that we should have checked. We’ve alerted the police and our loss prevention department, and we will pursue this any way we can. And for the customer, we certainly apologize that this happened," said Marty Heires, of Wal Mart.
Ellison just wants whoever is responsible caught.
"I have no idea why he does it. He's sick, whoever he is. He 's definitely a sick individual."
Wal Mart gave Ellison a new camera and offered to help her with counseling for her children if she feels they need it.
And you'd think they'd check the camera before putting it back on the shelves...and you'd think the woman would have sense enough to not buy something that was already opened.

Normally open case items tend to be cheaper because someone else bougth them before and prolly return it because they didn't like it. It is store policy to make sure that whatever they put back on shelves has been inspected for any damages or changes to the item. In this case I think the woman caught the open item on sale and was too excited about the deal that she forgot to inspected herself. So I think it balances towards the resposability of Wal-Mart. I, myself have bought open items before and sometimes don't even inspect them before buying them. Sometimes a sale is too good and you rush to get the item.
