Arrow Should the voting age be changed to 16+?

I think so, I follow politics enough to know what I'm doing. If someone doesn't follow and/or care, then they can just give up their voice. Age 10 is way too young, but 16 is a much better age than 18. We 16 year olds have voices and thoughts, too! yes

Sure, what the hell. Most adults are already ludacrously unqualified to vote; I don't see that letting a bunch of teenagers vote is likely to make things any worse.

They exhibit sales tax upon us, and take taxes out of our paychecks; §pearhead's right, taxation without representation.

That taxation thing is nonsense. In absolutely no way is paying a product tax meant to afford you political representation, which whilst in the care of your guardians is given to them anyway. That is reading politics all wrong. And furthermore, that entire concept is redundant in the modern day world.

And on no account do I want it lowered.

Is it? If I got a job, taxes would be reducted from my paycheck--yet I wouldn't be allowed to vote.

Personally, I wouldn't want to vote, none of the candidates are any good. But thats a bit off topic, in't it.

And my response is- so what?

If you are going to automatically connect taxation and the vote, prisoners should get it. Fact is, there is rather more thought that goes into a voting franchise than 'does the person pay taxes'?

You pay taxes in your case because you work, and it is considered that the maturity needed to hold a basic job is less than the maturity needed to cast your vote- I absolutely agree.

Whats the point of someone paying the government if they don't get any say in it?

Because you still benefit from it, of course! THAT'S the central point of taxation.

I think that until they are contributing to society (by working or studying at uni in preperation to work), they should not have the right to effect socity through the vote.

The government gives every child twelve years of education, absolutely free. You're not being victimized here.

Yeah! To hell with people who are unemployed through no fault of their own!

Don't get me wrong. I agree with you that sixteen-year-olds should be allowed to vote. I just disagreed with the reason you gave.

I know some kids that at the age of 16 are very interested in politics and have their own educated ideas about things...
than on the other hand I spend my last two years in a class full of plain retards when it came to politics and they were older than 16. So the problem is that you should do it on person-per-person way to see who can vote. But that's very unrealistic and not fair, cause were to draw the line?

Absolutely. Voting age is like Age of Consent; you have to try and strike the best balance you can, knowing that not everyone is the same at the same age, and I think 18 is the best balance.

A person-to-person method would be benificial but it would difficult to execute.
