...which is true of every Lantern except Alan Scott, whose weakness is wood. Though the yellow weakness has been partially retconned (see "GL: Rebirth" story arc), and they can now overcome it, though it takes a greater effort than normal.

depend on which green lantern you are talking about.

If you're talking about Green Lantern - Alan Scott, then no. His ring is part of him.

If you're talking about more recent Green Lanterns - then yes. It generally has to be destroyed by either by yellow energy, or someone with a much stronger will than that of the wearer
