So, which animes series COULD be adapted into a live-action movie?

We've seen a live-action Speed Racer, which was was all right and the upcoming Dragonball film which looks like utter shite.

So what animes actually COULD be adapted into a good live-action movie? I know there's been plenty of LA adaptions to manga series over in Japan like Deathnote, which is why I'm mainly gearing the question regarding American-made films.

Personally, I always thought that it'd be really cool see a trilogy based on the first three parts of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. The first movie could focus on Part with Jonathan Joestar fighting Dio Brando, the second film could focus on Part 2 with Joseph Joestar and the third film could be about Part 3 with Jotaro taking care of Dio once and for all.

The third film could easily be set in the U.S. instead of Japan and Parts 4-7 could be just be left out fso the trilogy could essentially be have Dio as the main villain.

I don't want any animes turning into movies because they always turn crappy in the process.

apparently not dragonball.

I have actually always said that Dragonball would never be able to be made into a good movie.

I think that Samurai Champloo could be made into at least a decent movie.

I don't think there's any technical reason that dragonball couldn't be made into a good movie, CGI has come far enough to do it. It's not really the special effects that are the main problem in the upcoming Dragonball Movie, it's...pretty much everything else.

It's the fact that no one should really be able to take a live action DBZ movie seriously. If they did it actually true to the series, it would honestly be cheesy and gay. So they tried to alter it...Thus making it even worse shit.

Dragonball movie sucks and the same goes for Speed Racer. Now I wonder how badly the live action Neon Genesis Evangelion movie will be.

It will really suck if the NGE movie is as bad as the DB movie will most likely be...

A Dragonball movie did have potential if they tried to make it something like an amped up version of Kung-Fu Hustle with chi blasts.

As it is, though, it doesn't seem like the producers took any steps to make the film in that direction at all.

champloo would be epic, all they have to do is film it like cashern for the fast sword fights.

What would really be horrifying is that if someone makes a Live Action Pokemon movie.

It's already happening though, and will continue to happen regardless of what you/we want.

That's based off of the first movie. lolol
Actually, that would ruin my childhood.

Yeah, the problem is they're trying to make a serious movie out of dragonball- and it's just not.
Kung Fu Hustle was awesome. It was just 4 enormous fight scenes glued together by about 3 lines of dialogue. 😄

Gundam only movie i can see being made sucessfuly byu successful i mean by not being retarded.

Gundam wouldn't be bad.

Battle Royale could. They basically did it with the Condemed. Though I guess that would be manga cause I don't know if Battle Royale has a anime.

A lot of Shoujo anime could. Not so many Shonen though. But stuff like Cased Closed, and DeathNote could probably do really good as an american movie. DB could be..if Stephen Chow had turned it into something like Shoalin Soccer or Kung-Fu Hustle which it doesn't seem to be at all.

Anime movies are about as bad looking as you see their musicals. 😘

As long as its done by the Japanese, Americans seem to pick the most horrible actors for each character.. Justin Chatwin as Goku?

Battle Royale is pretty much the only live action japanese movie not made by Akira Kurosawa that I could name.

I believe there is already at least one live action Death Note movie as well- I read the plot, which is slightly different to the anime. Actually, i thought it sounded better- L discovers the Death Notes, and writes his own name in one to die a peaceful death in his sleep after an extended period of time, and so even though Light writes L's name into his Death Note in their final showdown, it doesn't work. Light dies, much like in the warehouse fight in the anime, and L dies shortly after in his sleep as he had written in the Death Note.
I thought that was a much neater ending than the anime one, personally.
