If you were in charge of picking film music…?

I think it would be fun to be one of those people who places music in film or TV. I’m always hearing songs that would work for one type of show or another. See if you can name at least one song or band that you would use for each of the types of shows I have listed.

Teen Summer movie: Sugar Ray
Comedy: Smash Mouth
Horror: Eminem
Love / romance: Norahy Jones
Sci-Fi: Madonna (she’d get the right producer at least)

I’ll give some more of my own picks after other people have had a chance to add ideas. Feel free to add other types of show or film categories too.

General artists is difficult, but I think the following songs would suit the different scene types: -

Action sequence - "Sabotage" by The Beastie Boys
Reflective mood - "Blackbird" by The Beatles
Romance - "A man needs to be told" by The Charlatans
End credits - "Thats entertainment" by The Jam
Opening credits - "Seven nation army" by The White Stripes

There's more, let me ponder this one....

I can never get past the fact he's a lil' purple nonce who thinks he's sexy.

How about "Angel" by Massive Attack, playing as a gypsy struggles with his friends as he watches his mothers caravan burn down with her in it.........oh wait, already been done. roll eyes (sarcastic)

Good soundtrack altogether.

I'd really like to hear "Live Forever" by Oasis in a movie, its a great teen anthem.

Maybe "I am the Walrus" by The Beatles for a movie about LSD. big grin

I'm not saying that Eminem is better for horror than anyone else but why not. Anyway, hey have any of you guys heard that new Sugar ray song, Mr. Bartender? It's really cool. I love that hook.

Julie, don't be so hard on yourself. You have an opinion, let's hear it. Oh man, I just saw that eBay is auctioning Sugar Ray tickets and meet-n-greets. Why don't more bands do this?
