Mace is very strong, but you don't see him fist fighting the Reek in AOTC, do you? Thon is about that size, is sentient, and has those vicious claws and teeth. I wouldn't want Thon coming my way.

True, but mace is lightning quick. Unarmed combat is more than just throwing punches. Mace would spot a shatterpoint in the creature and take him down. That beast looks mighty hard though.
If you allow Mace to use the force, he could easily use force crush, or throw debris at it.

I dont think calling him "that beast" or "the creature" is fair, because he is a Jedi Master. Not like he's a primitive dinosaur.

Well, Kar Vastor had the potential to be a jedi, and he was considered to be a "beast."

Thon was a very powerful Jedi Master. Plus, must count the natural armor that reptilians possess, as well as those claws. Punching and kicking and whatnot won't phase a hardened and experienced Jedi Master, especially one that specializes in unarmed combat (or so I can tell, I haven't seen him use a lightsaber) due to his quadraped qualities.

Yes...because Thon just survived a force attack of a female Sith exterminating the live of the entire planet they were fighting on. He must be totally unable to counter a force crush.

Mace goes down here. Thon is possibly millenia old and it's stated that he came to Ossus and taught the people who had their asses sitting on a planet filled with Jedi knowledge some new stuff. And in unarmed combat I don't see Mace taking that "thing" down - same thing in a force contest.

Yeah, Mace is really, really tough and strong, but Thon's a freaking dinosaur. In a force contest, though, it may be more even...though, give Mace a saber and he'd do serious damage
