Republican Voters

Since Cruz and Kasich have tapped out, Trump is the nominee. Now in my personal view (and I'm a Republican) Democrats will keep the WH and regain control of Congress for the next 8 years. I believe it is the punishment that we deserve for nominating a celebrity. I will be sitting out this November. Thoughts?

I think the Republican party has had a lot of issues in the last years, and perhaps this Trump victory is a wake up call for a much needed restructuring of the party, to make it more modern and more in line with voters.

Agreed...almost on all aspects thumb up

As of now, it's evident voters are for Trump.

I think he means voters in general and not just the core Republican base, who are very much drifting outside of the mainstream.

From the context of his post it's pretty clear he meant Republican voters.

Still, even if not, then his claim is premature. We simply haven't seen yet what the general voters prefer. Maybe they'll prefer Trump, maybe not. Wait till elections.

What he really says is that he does not think Trump is someone worth voting for. Nothing new on his position there thumb up

Saves me the bother of having to vote this year. Not much of a choice. The Beyoiitch or the A$$hole. Such choices.

The U.S will get what it deserves.

We can be like Venezuela in no time. No Toilet Paper or Beer or Freedom of Speech, Religion or pretty much anything else.

A True Socialist Utopia!

GOP has always been very pro-business and corporations are really the ones in control of the country, Republicans should be very happy with a businessman instead of a politician for President.

Reagan was a celebrity.

For me I think this entire election has been a wake up call for the country in general. With the way the race is shaping up in terms of the two people that will likely be the final candidates for each side..more and more people are beginning to think there aren't really any "good" choices for the role of the president.

Reagan was the governor of California for eight years before running for president, his accolades were more than just acting

I also think no matter who wins we need to take a long hard look as to why someone like Donald Trump has gotten as far as he has in this election.

Seems to be its symptomatic of a general dumbing down of society and culture. Just look at political speeches over the generations to see how they connect with the voters. Leaders used to project some degree of eloquence and gravitas when making speeches. The language used to have some sophistication about it. Now it seems political speeches are deliberately written in the most simplistic language so an increasingly dumbed-down electorate can understand them.

Used to be you needed a reasonably educated population to do most jobs. Between automation and a rising education level in countries with a cheaper labour force why bother funding an education system or encouraging a media output that keeps people educated and informed when it's easier to keep them pliant when they're not? Now it seems to have swung too far and the same ignorant population is ousting the establishment that kept them that way for their own agendas for so long.

Yep I just think a lot of people are tired of the governments bullshit. I hate to agree with Star..but he was correct in saying we don't actually live in a democratic society and we haven't lived in one for a long time.

The most depressing part is..this isn't going to change lol. Wealthy people and greedy politicians hold too much power in this country and why would they ever willingly give that up?

The wealthy have pretty consistently held this country back with their greed. Yet Trump is wealthy too, but I think some feel he has so much wealth he won't be as beholden to other people as some of these other candidates might.

My issue is some people simply hand wave the popularity of Trump by just saying "oh his supporters are just all racists". Which to me is a very dangerous stance to take because it ignores the other factors on why this man has gotten as far as he has.
