Mara was only able to hold her own due to finding an area that restricted his movements/setting traps. By the time he engaged her in a duel he had a torn ligament and other injuries. On neutral ground he'd beat her handily

Jacen has been amplified by even more life-threatening injuries before and afterwards, so I see no reason why these lesser injuries would be in any way massively detrimental.
But her environmental and prep advantages did allow her to overwhelm him, yeah.
