Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X. Perferably the manga, once you get to around volume 16 you get to read the Jinchuu Arc which is yet to be animated and is one of the better parts of the story.

Rurouni Kenshin-- Wai! Anime and manga... the manga has a really cool style to it, I think, and plus, the anime diverges in PLENTY of spots-- I mean, come on, Marimo the flying bullet? (If you don't know what I'm talking about, consider yourself lucky....)

But there's nothing quite like watching Kenshin's Ry� Tsui Sen animated... Overall, I like the feel of the anime; the backgrounds are really nice-looking. (But they made Kenshin's hair some weird color like mahogany-- it's supposed to be bright, blazing orange! And, in quite possibly the weirdest color choice in the history of anime, they made Kenshin's gi ...bright magenta. O_O)

i suppose right now..its Wolf's Rain..but Fushigi Yuugi is at a close second.
its funny because i usually hate mainstreem anime(EX Inuyasha,YuYu Hakashou,FLCL ECT ECT)
