There's no way to prove it, one way or the other and yet so many people, gays and straights that just act as if there is no way in hell bisexuality exists.
I'm not bisexual so I can't be sure but why do you so 'wholeheartedly' believe bisexuals are in denial? Did you use to be in denial? Are you speaking of personal expirience?

How can you be attracted to both sexes? What kind of question is that? It's like asking how there can be attraction to the same sex. If you're attracted to the same sex but still happen to be attracted to your own, you're bisexual. It's really no deeper than that, your inability to understand it doesn't mean that it's not true.
