Oh.something else I should add is I like many other people I knew back in 89 who hated it THEN such as rufus firefly and scythe, also hated it because of how incredibly boring it is.I mean if you want to talk boring, look no further than batman 89.They just stood around and talked practically the whole damn time the first hour in a half with just a few brief actions scenes here and there.thats nuts for batman movie to be made where they are just standing around talking practically the whole film till the very end.You would expect a "BATMAN" movie to have LOTS of action in it.Like batman begins had.Plus I hated the burton films because they were all about the villains with THEM having the majority of the screentime and batman being just a supporting character.thats NUTS for a batman movie.I heard MANY people back then saying-that movie sucked,it should have been called the joker, thats who that movie was mostly all about.Batman Begins is the kind of batman movie true batman fans deserved to have back in 89 but were cheated out of and robbed from because it erased all those nightmare horrible mistakes batman 89 made.the casting of keaton, batman killing people, the villians being the main star,no action though most the film.Thank god for Nolan. He is a fans director.
Ok, here's me defending a good film... (That was on AMC's DVD_TV not to long ago, gave me lots of insight on why Burton made the decisions he did)
Batman 89 boring? No offense, but this is one of the most uneducated things you've ever said (and you usually give good, educated posts)
Ok, it had Batman owning a pair of muggers, Batman owning a gang of mobsters, Joker shooting Grissom multiple times, Batman fighting Joker's gang at the museum, Joker shooting Bruce at Vale's apartment, The Batwing shooting the Joker's floats, Joker shooting down the Batwing with an abnormally big revolver, A Batwing crash, Batman fighting Joker's gang in the cathedral, Batman owning Joker in the cathedral, and Joker's demise... And you say they stood there for an hour?
And the reason the villains were the main characters in the movies was because like someone said, the villains were gonna be killed in the movie, so they needed to get as much in about the villain as possible. It is much easier to characterize Bruce/Bats, so they went the villains approach. Also, Burton usually made the heroes in his movies outsiders, like he was when he was a kid...
Nolan is a good director with good movies under his belt, but he's hardly a fan's director... No one can be a "fan's director" without ruining the movie... I mean, look at Spider-Man 3, it had Venom just splashed in because the fans wanted it, and it kinda detracted from the movie... Giving the fans everything they want is impossible, as we all know, most fanboys are never satisfied, and they would ruin the movie...
Well, there's my two cents... Wonder if they can buy anything...
