That doesn't make the movie good idiot. Just because of WW1 we got the Geneva Convention doesn't mean WW1 is good.

And it sucks, and has always sucked.

I liked the first Batman so much mainly because I loved how Jack Nicholson interpreted the Joker. That made me love the film, now I know as a Batman film it was flawed in many ways. A lot of alterations from source material, and not focusing directly on the Batman/Bruce Wayne dynamic which Begins does amazingly well but just because of Jack I keep the film dear to me.

It's just sooooo trendy nowadays to bash Tim Burton's masterful "Batman" movie like PeterParkerJr here who wants to be trendy in the wake of "Batman Begins".

To be honest, "Batman Begins" bored me and was way too realistic! i prefer the fun comic book feel of "Batman (1989)" and "Batman Returns" which i felt were excellent movies that captured the mood of the comic books, face it! without these movies, we wouldn't have your new franchise.

I love the Batman movie from 1989 but honestly I found Batman Begins to be much better. I love realism & I love Ra's Al Ghul too so Batman Begins did it for me. I bet that Christopher Nolan's Joker will either be on par or better than Burton's Joker.

All I have to say about Bats89 is it was a great movie. For the people that dislike it all I have to say is this.

It still a classic its more comic like and Jack nicolson is amazing.

Hopefully Heath Ledger will be on par or will be able to top Jack's performance which was completely like the Joker. I just know that Aaron Eckhart will do better than Tommy Lee Jones as far as Two-Face goes. Either way, I want "The Dark Knight" to be a dark & scary movie like Batman '89. Heath Ledger's Joker needs to be as unpredictable & as sadistic as Jack's. When I look at Batman '89 or Batman Returns I still get chillbumps. That's what I want from "The Dark Knight" & I think that Nolan's going to deliver just like he delivered a non-stop action movie with Batman Begins.

Aaaron Eckhart seems a good choice for 2face but im wondering how they are going to fit Joker, 2face and Scarecrow into this movie. This movie is gonna be great.

I love Batman 1989 and Batman Returns more so than Begins but I really like Begins as well. The only Batman films I have not liked are Forever and B&R.

I don't get why people hate on Batman 1989 either. It really was an important film to the Batman franchise because it took the camp away and made Batman bad ass again instead of a joke. I do get it was heavily focused on the Joker but I didn't mind that too much because I got the feeling Burton was going to get rid of the villains in each film so you really got one go round to get to know them with Bruce there were at least three films to explore him and I think you got a lot of him in his relationship arcs with Vicki and Selina...JMO.

How can that be goin' too far? that's exactly what makes Batman a thrill to watch and read about.

His great rogues gallery for one thing make him interesting.

I saw Batman '89 again on the TV yesterday. It was ... good, I guess? I've never liked it as a Batman movie, and Nicholson's "masterful" performance was a ludacrous ham-job. Keaton was good as Batman (no, Mr Parker, that is not your cue to jump in), but he didn't get enough screen-time. The supporting cast was completely forgetable; the romantic subplot was awful. Great atmosphere. They completely messed up Batman's character, but I don't cary the grudge that some people in this forum seem to.

Begins was better.

I love Batman 1989 personally. More so than Begins but I really like Begins a lot too and appreciate what it was able to accomplish but I don't like the whole realistic Batman angle as much as I expected I would. It was kind of a let down in the same way I exhilarated by it if that makes sense? Probably not. I guess what I mean is that the reality took away from my escape into the fantasy. I guess however I was tainted by seeing Batman 1989 first though I could barely remember it since I was 5 when it came out.

Begins oddly enough drove me to rediscover my Bat film fan girl and because of it I actually rediscovered how much I loved 1989 and Returns.

Read my previous posts.Thats WHY they are such horrible films and should be burned.Actually the casting choice of keaton as bruce wayne and making him into a wuss fighter like that idiot Burton did, made the film a joke.I think Gregory summed it up for me as well on why that movie is so horrible.

To post that there are a new hate towars the tim burton batman films is simply false. That movie was discussed even in his release. I hated it since its release. Many friends of mine hated it since its release. Many people of the cinema hated it in the release. Many critics hated it since its release.

Surely, with the release of batman begins, all the people starting comparing the movies. But the tim burton batman films has been always discussed and not so well recieved.

I actually enjoyed Keaton as Batman. He is my favorite portrayer of the dark knight. And I do remember mixed reviews for Returns at the time but overall both of them have mostly favorable ratings on Rottentomatoes.com. You will always have your fangirl and fanboy hatred of certain films, heck I know plenty of Batfans who found begins dry, stale and didn't like Ras training Bruce as well as the lack of focus on his detective skills etc etc. At the end of the day you really won't please everyone and it's all about what you want in a Bat film. For me Batman 1989 and Returns were both interesting and thrilling and I loved them both. Begins was intriguing as well. As long as it's not that camp trash of Batman Forever and Batman and Robin there will be little complaint out of me anyway.

Oh.something else I should add is I like many other people I knew back in 89 who hated it THEN such as rufus firefly and scythe, also hated it because of how incredibly boring it is.I mean if you want to talk boring, look no further than batman 89.They just stood around and talked practically the whole damn time the first hour in a half with just a few brief actions scenes here and there.thats nuts for batman movie to be made where they are just standing around talking practically the whole film till the very end.You would expect a "BATMAN" movie to have LOTS of action in it.Like batman begins had.Plus I hated the burton films because they were all about the villains with THEM having the majority of the screentime and batman being just a supporting character.thats NUTS for a batman movie.I heard MANY people back then saying-that movie sucked,it should have been called the joker, thats who that movie was mostly all about.

Batman Begins is the kind of batman movie true batman fans deserved to have back in 89 but were cheated out of and robbed from because it erased all those nightmare horrible mistakes batman 89 made.the casting of keaton, batman killing people, the villians being the main star,no action though most the film.Thank god for Nolan. He is a fans director.

Ok, here's me defending a good film... (That was on AMC's DVD_TV not to long ago, gave me lots of insight on why Burton made the decisions he did)

Batman 89 boring? No offense, but this is one of the most uneducated things you've ever said (and you usually give good, educated posts)

Ok, it had Batman owning a pair of muggers, Batman owning a gang of mobsters, Joker shooting Grissom multiple times, Batman fighting Joker's gang at the museum, Joker shooting Bruce at Vale's apartment, The Batwing shooting the Joker's floats, Joker shooting down the Batwing with an abnormally big revolver, A Batwing crash, Batman fighting Joker's gang in the cathedral, Batman owning Joker in the cathedral, and Joker's demise... And you say they stood there for an hour?

And the reason the villains were the main characters in the movies was because like someone said, the villains were gonna be killed in the movie, so they needed to get as much in about the villain as possible. It is much easier to characterize Bruce/Bats, so they went the villains approach. Also, Burton usually made the heroes in his movies outsiders, like he was when he was a kid...

Nolan is a good director with good movies under his belt, but he's hardly a fan's director... No one can be a "fan's director" without ruining the movie... I mean, look at Spider-Man 3, it had Venom just splashed in because the fans wanted it, and it kinda detracted from the movie... Giving the fans everything they want is impossible, as we all know, most fanboys are never satisfied, and they would ruin the movie...

Well, there's my two cents... Wonder if they can buy anything...

Yeah I think Batman 1989 overall had more excitement in it than Batman Begins did though Batman Begins had more of a story to tell.

I still think this is the best Batman movie ever! Parker sucks dick is what i think, i think Burton does better action sequences then Nolan.

thats hysterical what you said about that idiot Burton doing better action sequences than Nolan. 😆 😆 🤣 😆

Watch the name calling people. No personal attacks.
