Gender: Male Location: Everything you know is wrong.
That all depends on your POV. Some say Big Boss was the bad guy, when all he wanted was to free the world from Zero and the Patriots' control. When B. Boss failed (twice), that duty fell on Ocelot and EVA's shoulders. Throughout the series, Solid Snake has been the Patriots' patsy in stopping Big Boss. Only this time, Snake unwittingly brings about the Patriots' demise.
I swear, seeing the MGS4 ending was the saddest thing since Aerith's death in FF7.
Oh, and walking - then crawling through a microwave-lined hallway deserves mad respect points...although Snake will have a bad sunburn afterwards.

IMO, Big Boss kinda went through the treatment Darth Vader went. he was your traditional badguy in the MG1 and MG2. come MGS3, we get to see his point of view, his view of things and why he decided to do what he did (seriously, having to pwn your own mother/mentor after 6 years separation only to have to kill her and then find out that it was sum bs ruse set up by your own people to get money would p!ss me off a lot too). then MGS portable orps comes and we see it even more (still havent' played that! f--king PSP!).
then MGS4 comes out and he makes his peace with one time nemesis and son, Solid, and also realizes where he went wrong. in the end, he dies knowing that despite his faults he still didn't die a bad man. its all like Darth Vader (even the son bit) who went from bad guy epitome to being a conflicted tragic hero-who-fell-but-redeemed-himself thing via the starwar prequels.
but meh, vader aint even equal to Big Boss' eyepatch. Big Boss
1. the strongest psionic in the mgsverse was the sorrow. this is proven when he destroyes the spirit of mantis in mgs4{ursula also comes close}
ok, now for some not so well known facts, when the power of mantis first surfaced, the ensuing psychic blast killed every1 in his town. he was the one who was telepathically controlling the ENTIRE genome army on shadow mosses {they werent there completely of their own free will} and when he died their brainwashing started to wear off, and got liquid worried. he is one of the strongest characters in the series. he can astral project, cast illusions, teleport, has telekenesis{although not shown to be compareable to ursula}, has precog, his eyes are sewed shut, and he only sees with his ESP. can bend light around himself telekenetically. etc etc etc.
hands down....but secondly only to Big Boss IMO. still Snake's the sh!t. a lot better than f@gs likle Cloud, Squal and Dante who fight demons and monsters but still look like they just came out from posing for gay magazines.
Hideo Kojima only slipped once when he made that f@g Raiden. otherwise he's always made soldiers who look like soldiers.
All true except for that part about Raiden might have been a bit of a *** in his first appearance but in Mgs4 he is the third most badass character in video game history next to Big Boss and Solid Snake.
I think Snake had Meryl for awhile after shadow moses but left her cuz he is to badass to have just one woman.
Jason says:
what am I supposed to do?
Jon says:
clean your apt before she moves in? buy some pink bed sheets? scented candles?
Jason says:
wait, u have pink bed sheets?
Jon says:
ive said too much
At the time Solid Snake fought Psycho Mantis he WAS the most powerful psionic since the Sorrow was long dead.
---
Funny because Raiden's faggotry had a purpose way back in MGS2. Kojima made him that way to attract female gamers and attempt to gather more fanbase from Japan who are used to these "Beautiful men" thing. Anyways what really pissed me off about Raiden was having to listen to Rose's whinning, but anyways.
Meh.

Rose's existence was to give proof of just how powerful the Patriots were at manipulating human actions and reactions. The Patriots had Rose get the hairstyle, hair color, nails, skin, eyes and even personality that would make Jack(Raiden) instantly fall in love with her. Then they used her to continue manipulating him. But then Rose actually fell in love with Jack and wanted him to open up to her. She could sense Jack was never close to her, the way she wanted him to, but everytime she tried to get close to him he backed away, left and came back drunk.
Kind of weird, I know, but she does serve MGS2's storyline quite well.
I like her a whole lot more in MGS4.

^erm, that wasnt rose. that was GW's fake personality created out of raiden's own subconcious image of rose. he doesnt meet rose until the after killing solidus in mgs2. GOD, were u sleaping or what?!
My bad. I wasn't sleeping or anything. In case you didn't know the game came out in 2001(if I'm not mistaken) and I haven't played it ever since, so don't expect me to have photographic memory. A man can make mistakes.
But then again if that persona GW was posing as was based on Raiden's thoughts wouldn't that mean Rose was the same? Maybe and maybe not since this is just Jack's POV. Anyways if you feel the need to discuss this lets do so in the off topic thread. lets not derail this respect thread.
Respect the ultimate solider Solid Snake who makes the impossible possible. A man who doesn't need any thing to complete a mission other then a pack of smokes. Respect the first badass in video game history
no rose wasnt the same at all, it was jack's insecurities which blamed her for an affair she didnt have and for working with the patriots to get to jack. these insecutires were noticed and taken advantage of by GW, who wanted to turn raiden into a simulated solid snake and see how much control over the human psyche it cud pose.
