No, I think you said that they are called liberal indicates that they are most closely related with freedom.
Well, liberalism is about giving people freedom.

not in this country it's not...liberal governments endorse a bigger state...more beauracracy and a higher level of state interference in peoples lives

hence its liberal governments who have imposed polices of criminalising people who spank their children...liberal governments who insist that dartboards in pubs should be surrounded by bullet proof glass to ensure no-one gets injured...liberal governments who insist that window cleaners should only work with £50,000 hydraulic lifts instead of ladders

the list is endless...liberal in the UK means less freedom for the individual

You do realise that republicans in the US (conservatives) used to be more for freedom than liberals. As I said, you mistake cause and effect. Liberal is just a name. If some fascists call themselves liberal it does not make them pro-freedom.

Sure it does, just freedom for them not for the rest.

As for the topic, inheritance tax is the worst kind of tax out there anyway. It's complete bullshit that you would have to pay taxes over something you want to leave other people when you die.

Why the hell should the government get money after I die...

Once more, you are aware that Thatcher's Government was a liberal one, yes?

You've got this all backwards. In the UK, Liberal has historically meant 'free from regulation'.

You are using a US definition.

An annoying one at that.

Liberal has such a nice ring to it.
