Very true for the most part. I helped shoot and edit a recent story we did called 'Testing The Techs,' where we went to five different stores in Las Vegas to have them diagnose what was wrong with out computer. All we did was have a Tech from UNLV disconnect the IDE cable. Only one out of the five told us the exact problem. Three of the five told us we needed a new hard drive. BestBuy was the worst. Not only did they tell us we needed a new hard drive, but they suggested we buy a new computer, and all that was wrong was a cable needed to be pushed back in. Effing crazy.

Had a good Toshiba for like 800€ a while ago, died after about 2 1/2 years, I suspect of Hard Drive failure, but I didn't bother to check it. Now I have a Think Pad T41. Got it refurbished. Perfect for everything I need to do. Cost me 400€ and I love it. Obviously not a gamer computer, I do have a pretty decent Tower for my game needs though. Personally I never had a Dell, they always strike me as too expensive though, I doubt their high end products are shitty though (like chill points out).
my buddy from louisiana is coming into town tomorrow, and he is a tech head of some sorts. he is gonna look at it for me and try to fix it for free.

Never get an Acer/Gateway laptop... I've had to replace my power cord roughly once a month since I got the damn thing... It's a joke, they just stop working, even if you don't touch the cable.
if my bud cant fix it, I am gonna have the screen replaced on the dell. if that doesnt work, hello Toshiba.
