Nah, completely different guy. Russian Zod is a Russian cosmonaut called Avruskin.

He beat Superman so badly the first time, Kelex likened it to the time Superman fought Doomsday (so it wasn't *just* a jaw breaking):

Second time they met, he was also speedblitzing Supes, and beating him up:

He was pretty savage. He was also treating Bizarro like a ragdoll.

However, I haven't seen scans of him slaughtering probes, as Carv asserts.

The way that leg is sticking out in the penultimate panel of the second scan looks like that rigid action figure pose. Looks really small too, quite funny.
