quote:
Until recently Dean Meadowcroft was a copywriter in a small marketing department.

His duties included writing press releases, social media posts and other content for his company.

But then, late last year, his firm introduced an Artificial Intelligence (AI) system.

"At the time the idea was that it would be working alongside human lead copywriters to help speed up the process, essentially streamline things a little bit more," he says.

Mr Meadowcroft was not particularly impressed with the AI's work.

"It just kind of made everybody sound middle of the road, on the fence, and exactly the same, and therefore nobody really stands out."

The content also had to be checked by human staff to make sure it had not been lifted from anywhere else.

But the AI was fast. What might take a human copywriter between 60 and 90 minutes to write, the AI could do in 10 minutes or less.

Around four months after the AI was introduced, Mr Meadowcroft's four-strong team was laid off.

Mr Meadowcroft can't be certain, but he's pretty sure the AI replaced them.

still believe I’m safe from being replaced by a.i.

If I’m getting replaced, everyone in industry is doomed, sparing event photography. once ai creates actual industry-usable images. hopefully I’ll be retired and on social security. then I can tell all the unemployable youth about how they have it easy, like all the spoiled scumbag boomers before my generation

My job is meetings. I do lots of meetings. But AI helps so much outside of meetings.

I'm going through all my papers and I've located photographs people sent me, photos taken of me without me being aware of it, haha. Back when it was a thing to actually take photographs, and have photographers shoot every one.

And also all the notes where I worked on ideas for a song and the song lyrics + my copyrights ... reading all of this again ... even I am impressed by how the finished song grew...

A music teacher was saying earlier today (I was in the kitchen, drinking tea, trying not to distract the lesson in progress) how Elton John changed his name and how he wrote a very well known multi platinum worldwide bestselling song.

The process of that song writing is even more entertaining that the song... when yo hear the story told.

When you hear the story behind the song... Wow. You know the song has real deep meaning. You know what and who wrote the lyrics and who is speaking to who in those lyrics and what it means... Wow!

So the music teacher who comes by now and again was a big time artist back in the day... and was telling a story about The Beatles but that's a story for another day.

So this uh thing that crawls networked devices and harvests their data.

What will any of it's work mean?

Why should any once care.

I've never seen it but there is a statue by Michaelangelo that has quite an interesting story (Drama between people).

With some Boosted Code what would be the unique personal dramatic story behind the creaton of that specifit work of art?

There would be no story.

When I hear about what the artist was doing, what the artist had to do, the workaround the artist came up with and applied, how the artist got away with it and the conflict was resolved so even the antagonist wasn't mad... and then I hear about this .... ugh.

The thing the boosted code will be attributed to someone and the AI will write the story.
