Someone asked if anyone could define an extremist..
What happened to that question? I’m sure some people would call ME an extremist, but I – of course- would hardly call my views that.
So – what IS extremism?
And is one worse than the other?

But that's Americanized democracy, which isn't true democracy at all. A true democracy is a society where people literally govern themselves—people are selected to serve in the senate the way they're selected to perform jury duty.
Some of the ones that come to my mind are the ones condoning "art" that simply shouldn't be (check my Double. You. Tee. Eff. (Sex! Education!) thread).
Also, the ones who want to remove any public..."stuff" having to do with Christianity and replace it with Islamic "stuff". They say "separation of church and state", but they don't exactly abide by it.
I hate those ultra-tolerant bastards. They get me really, really steamed. So I won't start up against them.
Oh, one more before I am accused of being too one-sided: people who wanted a construction of a massive, gay, lesbian, and bisexual only school. It cost a freakin' ton and had a grand total of a HUNDRED students. The other schools in the area really sucked in comparison to it.

Hmm I guess we have a whole different idea of extremists in germany first of all extremists have to be violent.....now right wing extremists are fasicst (Nazis) and left wing are communist or socialists.
Darth Revan what you are implying is a socialist democracy there are different forms of democracy even though what fishy said sounds very much like a democracized version of Hobbes Leviathan
No thats the ancient Greek definition of Democracy, they should know they invented it.
Democracy wasn't made to make people govern themselves, it was made to keep the leaders in check. You selected the best leader and that leader would have to do everything he could to help improve the country isntead of himself. Becuase if he improved himself he would get kicked out and somebody better who would do anything for the coutry would be voted into office. thats the idea, you don't vote for the most popular, or for the nicest, or for the proudest. You vote for the smartest.
that concept has been completly destroyed in modern day democacy's however and it very rarely happens anymore.
