* Kite, and Mezzo Forte... Director's Cut or not, it's damn violent...

Ha! I'm glad to see I'm not the only person who loves me some bio-booster armor. Yea The Guyver was really bloody. 1 out of every 3rd zoanoid totally got screwed over by his vibroblades and bleed huge needless amounts of alien ichor. Crazy Awesome Indeed!

Was the Guyver a TV show or a Movie. I've heard of it but never saw it. I'd like to see it now since it was mentioned on here as gory anime. Is it a good story too?

You said FOTNS was one of the bloodiest too : |

yeah it is but Gantz got more blood more guts and its weird

I have most of the anime mentioned and think that most of it isn't even gorey at all...
Elfen Lied is good.
Urotsukidoji is good.
Ninja Scroll is good but the series is much better and more violent.
But you've all missed Apocalypse Zero.

The two episode long Kakugo no Susume OAV series from 1996, based on the manga by Takayuki Yamaguchi, is the most viscerally violent and gruesome anime I've ever seen, and it's arguably the most grotesque anime ever made. Since first seeing it years ago, it's always reminded me of an apocalyptic and brutal parallel to Peter Jackson's comedy of profanity Meet the Feebles, right down to the depiction of a character being eaten, partially melted by digestive acids, then regurgitated while still alive, albeit alive for a short time. Kakugo no Susume revels in brutality and degradation, from energizing its powered armor suits with the blood of martyrs to the mutated sexuality of its monsters that takes the crude, animalistic aspect of sex to the extreme of sex as violence. The depiction of dismemberments and exposed intestines is a mere starting point for the atrocities illustrated in this anime. Kakugo no Susume takes its extremes to such degrees that it defies qualitative assessment. The anime has irrefutably ugly character designs; its grimy, dirty atmosphere is uncomfortable even for viewers; and the two episode series has very little character or story development. But the intense gore and shocking violence in the show is so extreme that it alone is justification enough for the show, at least to viewers interested in seeing over-the-top splatter. Basically, Kakugo no Susume isn't a story filled with gore; it's gore contained by a thin story that only exists to provide some context for the violence. The Kakugo no Susume OAV series is available in America under the name "Apocalypse Zero."

Beserk is up there, especially the manga.

i would say the most bloody is the OVA of samurai x, yuck, so much gore and violence, And the bloodiest yet is when shishio splits a guy head to know

Fist of the North Star and Ninja Scroll are the only two that come to mind.

Dude you a fan of the alien trilogy? W00t, after a year finally i find someone who is maybe a fan of hr giger and the alien trilogy

Fist of the North Stars gore is in a league all its own.

there's one or two live action movies as well as one or two animes. the story's pretty decent for an action concept

rurouni kenshin (kinda, but i forget which one...i think it was 'movie x'😉

[and there are lots of anime that are bloody, its just that the tv has to sensor it]

so very true a good percentage of animes are bloody it just that before it hits television in america its all filtered and watered down producing the crap we watch today in which we call "anime" and samurai x is a very bloody movie, but its one of those bloody type movies that way too much blood spurts out from an ity bity scratch (i love it though)

You missed my thread... All of these are telletubbies remakes in comparison to APOCALYPSE ZERO and AIL MANIAX.

In terms of glorifying gore and blood and showing it as much vivid detail as Apocalypse Zero did, well as vivid as you get with the art style, but for sheer amounts of Blood, I would have to go with X from 1999... Have you guys seen that? Its almost like the blood took on a life of its own for crying out loud, old Vampire Hunter D was incredibly bloody for its time as well. Of course the best use of blood would have to go to Ninja Scroll first movie when Gamarra's (sp?) huge double bladed sword thing hits all the ninjas and their bodies fall, then the blood rains on to them, that was the best!!
