It's good to have him back, he was quite a unique character. Disturbing, yet at the same time compelling and sympathetic. Although reassuming the role of Venom is the obvious (and welcome) thing to do, it would be interesting to do something entirely new with him. I don't know what, though.
I hope that if they bring him back, they shouldn't ignore his character development over the years. They should have him make his peace with Peter and take his character in interesting new directions (new love interest, etc)
If he gets the symbiote back, have him find a way to control it and use it for good. Venom was more interesting as an anti-hero than a run-of-the-mill supervillian anyways.

IMO they should concentrate on the tragic life of Brock. I'm don't mean the whole Sinner stuff which ruined his career, but FFS his (ex) wife commited a suicide nearly infront of him. Before that she was driven mad by the symbiote.
Eddie practically lost his life and became insane when he got the symbiote. Maybe they should portray him more as a tragical character, or show the symbiote as a bad creature (They did something like this a while ago, just before Venom killed Sandy) In the end he would of course embrace the evil, but he needs more depth. IMO

Well when he sold the symbiote he claimed to have found religion and was trying to make up for past sins ... he could try to force the symbiote to reform as well.
