Well then, you haven't spoken to many people who have trained in the spear. I have a friend who is quite accomplished in both Sojutsu and Bojutsu, and I myself have practiced a bit of Bojutsu. Many of the techniques are identical .

many of them are also quite different as well.
I try and get the video's name, but there martial art video that speaks about different weapons and how spear and Bo though similar are wielded in very different ways and styles.
