If any of the Illuminati are skrulls, I would point a finger at Namor. Xavier just encountered the M'Kraan, and I think Namor's powers would be easier to duplicate.
reading 31, I thought of the possibility that Doctor Strange had been replaced by a Skrull
Reaons:
His recent depowering- a high level skrull mytic could probably pretend to be a depowered Strange.
His spell in New Avengers 30 to detect evil detentions: if I remember correctly, the Doctor's face was the only one not shown being affected, and the baby, who had the whole Skrully thing going on at the end of 31, laughed when he used it- a Skrull spell?
His recent change in behavior: the Doc hasn't wanted to be involved with teams in a while. Marvel didn't even offer an explanation other than he felt like should as to why Doctor Strange would suddenly join a team that in the past, he would have had no reason to- I mean, fighting Hydra is not Doctor Strange's deal.
as much as this kinda makes sense to me, I will be so depressed if Doc Strange is a Skrull.
I like that they are not going to be retconning things like Civil War through this though. It sounds like an intense, but fun kind of superhero story.
That's all recent stuff though. I might be mistaken but wasn't it said the Skrull Illuminati member has been pretending for years and years at this point?
true... but this is all stuff that occured since the plotline was announced. I mean, every marvel character has done weird stuff since the Kree-Skrull war.
I'm trying to believe Doctor Strange isn't a skrull.
Well, didn't Bendis state that it was just a POSSIBILITY that the Illuminati switch occured during the Illuminati issue that takes place right after the Kree Skrull war?
But in this context, wouldn't it be wise of the Skrulls to replace those influential in the Civil War, to more closely monitor events on earth, and perhaps even shape them?
In fact, what if we find out in retrospect that the Skrulls engineered the entire CW as well as the Registration Act. It works to their advantage to register as many superhumans as possible for the purposes of knowing which enemies to keep closest tabs on...
I mean, might as well take this conspiracy theory to the logical extreme...
Yeah they kept saying that it's not a retcon of events and is not there to retcon Civil War HoM Disassembled etc. They just said characters that have had wobbly resurrections over the past couple of years are suspects....
I'm thinking possible suspects are........
Mar Vehl (recently came back)
Strange (being underpowered and acting odd)
Jessica Jones and/or Child (funny eyes and suspicious behaviour)
Hawkeye (recently resurrected, again)
Xavier (Acting really oddly over the last couple of years.)
Two I think are unlikely to be Skrulls but are possibilities are Tony Stark as he has been out of character however I don't think he is a Skrull, just Marvel's ideal red herring for the storyline) And Spider-man due to his recent resurrection in the other and his odd behaviour in Civil War. Although i think these two are really unlikely..................

After the M'Kraan thing I doubt Xavier is a Skrull or any of the Illuminati for that matter...I always felt bastardy qualities were a prerequisite to be part of the Illuminati.
On the other hand living on Earth sure does suck, you have the Skrulls trying to invade and now the Shiar Empire.
I'd say Storm is more likely a Skrull then Xavier.
