Action wise nothing happened, but i think this issue explained some stuff about being a mutant, kind of glad they didnt go with this storyline now back in the 90s.
It would be a decent feat... considering that this Sabretooth didn't receive any upgrades and there were no retcons, like Loeb's one (Creed reattaching his hand in the first encounter with Logan).
Well, its claimed that this story picks up where he left off. supposedly with X-men number 3. But honestly it seems more like it starts off something new, that forgets everything that went on before, even of his own work. How easily they accepted Sabertooth into the ranks, the convoluted bit with the two storms and the whole Mutant powers burn out when they're 65. Not to mention how small the world feels, like where are the other characters that were around at the time? And why is Kitty there? At the time Claremont stopped she was off with Excalibur.
Well that's typical Claremont though. If he can't remember what he did one issue ago (See his recent Uncanny and Exiles run regarding Psylockes powers) I don't expect him to remember what he did decades ago. Heck I'm told that his Forever issues aren't even coherent apparently Storm got her eye cut by Kitty and the following issue it's just her forehead.
Claremont has always shoe-horned and warped characters to fit certain roles, 'twas one of Byrnes biggest problems with him when they worked together. Byrne had to constantly remind him what happened issues ago.
And finally Claremonts dialogue always reads like toilet paper.
