The thing I like most about Vegeta is out of all the characters he has the most intelligent and complicated character and personality. But the thing I dislike about Vegeta is that he is called Goku's eternal rival but he keeps getting further and further behind Goku, once he reached super saiyan 2 that was it, and even that he barely uses, heck in gt he never goes super saiyan 2. Even when Vegeta finally caught up when he went super saiyan 4, once he changed back he couldn't reach it again without the help of Bulma's blutz wave generator. Heck in Gt there is even a big difference between Vegeta's super saiyan 1 form and Goku's, as we saw in the battle against Super 17.
Vegeta really missed out on SS3, and pure SS4 power. I don't know why they call him Goku's eternal rival.
Vegeta get so caught up in his lust for power it de powers him IMO.
The only reason why Goku was stronger was because he trained under the best of the best. Vegeta trained himself as a kid until adulthood and from there the only person he trained is with Trunks.
Goku as a child ahd access to Roshi and Kami who taught him fundamentals of fighting which is something the aliens lack. He can read ki and can follow movements by reading ki whereas Freeza and others had to use their eyes.
After Kami he had freaking King Kai teach him for 6 months. Then he went to the Yardrat planet and trained there. When he died the manga states Goku's body was spared so that he can continue to train and fight. In the anime this was shown to be under Old Kai. But at the very least Goku was confirmed to have trained with the Metamorans. Also Goku had the advantage of not having a living body which enabled him to learn Super Saiyan 3 which is the only reason why there's this incredible gap between Goku and Vegeta in the first place.
Goku had access to the best fighters and teachers of all time. Vegeta grew up without his home planet as a slave for Freeza. He nevvr trained until after Namek and from there he was self taught.

Good reading!
I was disappointed when Goku didn't fight Majin Vegeta at SS3, even Vegeta called him on that.
