Cosplay is a short term for costume and play, which mean the peoples who do it can only play with the costume and not the characters, which mean they can't play around with the characters appearance because they will end up ruining the characters which will also ruin the Anime and millions of peoples who are fan of the Anime and characters.

First and foremost it's not called cosplay, it's called dress-up, secondly it's been a European pastime for the last five hundred years as All Hollows Eve—now known as Halloween—and that's not even counting masquerades and themed balls. Like with everything else, we invented it.

It's All Hallow's Eve, it means all saints, rather than all empties.

Additionally dress up was practiced by other cultures independently of European culture as well.

But everyone that's enjoying it should still do the cosplayz.

You think some random person dressing up like a silly schoolgirl from some cartoon can somehow magically "ruin" other peoples' lives.

Are you actually retarded or doing your best to come off as such?

I never argued that. What I did argue was the tradition of it. There's no Asian equivalent of Halloween, where the common man played dress-up.

How can someone who spends all of their time playing glorified dress-up be capable of ruining anything other than their own social status?

You just don't understand the fanaticism of Anime fans. How about someone imitating those you love such as your girlfriend/wife or those you respect such as your parents badly, are you going to feel hurt, offense or feeling nothing? That is the kind of levels of attachment Anime fans have towards Anime and certain Anime characters especially for those in Japan.

Yeah, that's fair enough, but they'll have to deal with the fact that most people a) don't have that fanaticism and b) that the anime they like isn't even necessarily always catering to them.

You will be surprised to know that almost all Anime fans have that kind of fanaticism I menationed, it can be seen at how almost all Anime fans only like certain peoples to Cosplay the Anime characters they love and respect, if not then they will not care who Cosplay. And again Anime are made for Anime fans to watch and not for cosplayers to imitate.

Generally people who cosplay are fans of anime.

I think you vastly overstate how big the fanatic anime culture actually is.

I can understand being a fan of a fictional character, but it's not healthy to act like they are real people or anything like that. If someone is so obsessed with a fictional character that they actually get offended when someone dresses up like them "incorrectly", then that person has issues.

The before and after picture you posted could both be photoshop to make it obvious, if you want to show evidence then show something like this :
quote:
Source : http://www.antiwc.net/group/viewtop...?f=5&t=3041

That racist western cosplayer loser http://worldcosplay.net/member/annaryshining/ also scam the number of pictures she have, the big numbers of the Cosplay pictures she have is not because of her hard work of cosplaying many different characters but because she repeatedly uploading the same pictures over and over. For example is the Asuka [ Evangelion ] Cosplay she did :
- http://worldcosplay.net/photo/1150075/ which she uploaded on 15 July 2013 is she uploaded again on 22 August 2013 http://worldcosplay.net/photo/1249512/ [ she also photoshoped it ].
- http://worldcosplay.net/photo/1209809/ [ she also photoshoped it ] which she uploaded on 7 August 2013 is she uploaded again on 17 August 2013 http://worldcosplay.net/photo/1234438/
- http://worldcosplay.net/photo/1125777/ [ she also photoshoped it ] which she uploaded on 4 July 2013 is she uploaded again on 16 July 2013 http://worldcosplay.net/photo/1153150/ then on 24 September 2013 http://worldcosplay.net/photo/1341174/

More on the source

The evidence I posted come from the same cosplayer who uploaded all of those pictures herself so there is no chance that someone especially jealous losers who photoshop her picture and then claim she photoshoped it because it is herself who did. This shows that it is western cosplayers who actually photoshop/fake their Cosplay pictures to look good and not Asian cosplayers.

(please log in to view the image)

This is another evidence of an Asian cosplayer in picture
(please log in to view the image)

While this is in video of the same Asian cosplayer cosplaying the same character http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVxM4Oi4UhE

As you see that Asian cosplayer look as real as in her Cosplay pictures and real self [ no deep set eyes, long nose, square face, etc ], she just as cute as the Anime characters she cosplayed.

What you said is more reason why westerners must not Cosplay Anime/Asian characters.
quote:
Source : http://www.antiwc.net/group/viewtop...f=17&t=3060

From cultural point of view the reasons why those westerners must not Cosplay our Anime/Asian characters are because of the difference between our Asian cultures and those westerners western cultures, such as :
1. Our Anime/Asian characters childish appearance and attitude
It is seen negative in those westerners western culture for adults [ peoples over 17 years old ] to act and look childish while in our Asian cultures it is seen positive because our Asian culture highly value cuteness and innocentness. In our Asian culture someone called as an adult is not based on how they act or look like but based on their age which lead to us Asians have many age related traditions such as the coming of age tradition in Japan including the tradition for those who have reach their adulthood, while in those westerners western culture someone called as an adult is based on how they act or look like such as how those westerners western society value female adulthood based on how much skin they show. In the worse case an adult who try to act and look childish will be called as pedophile-bait in those westerners western society. Another fact of this can be seen at how being called as a doll are seen as negative in those westerners western culture while in our Asian culture being called as a doll is the highest praise for someone appearance, for example when someone said 'you look like a doll' will mean as 'you look very cute and youthful' in our Asian society.

One of the reason why Anime fans not like western cosplayers is because western cosplayers look too old, not that because Asian cosplayers are younger by age but westerners just look much older than their real age.

And there is nothing perverted posting a girl picture who is over 18 even if she look 14 or much younger, it is not her fault to look much younger than her real age and this become problem are only in western society due to the high pedophile crimes there.

Fun fact: Child pornography is legal to possess in Japan. As long as you're not selling it, producing it, etc, you can jack your dick to child porn.
