The best comics hero has got to be either Superman or Captain Marvel.

Spider-Man is one of them. I also really like Captain Marvel. Both of the -Vell ones. The first one, Mar-Vell was great and, odd as this sounds, I love how they killed him. It made super heroes all the comic-world over more human. He died laid up in bed of cancer... no blaze of glory, no mass fanfare, just dying alone with his mostly unheard of accomplishments.

His son Genis is an interesting character, and I'm very interested to see where they take him. Still trying to carve a niche for himself and get out from under his father's shadow, to silence all the naysayers who doubt him for his convoluted blood line and the battle with sanity. Peter David rocks.

Both Venom and Spider-Man, to me, are some of the best comic heros I've read, of course they are the only thing I've also, so... big grin

Hmm. The Silver Surfer is my favourite character. I think his character is amazing. Just because he embodies what a perfect human should be yet being void (for the most part) of evil and anything bad, makes him vulnerable. So it's very interesting. Kinda like money can't buy happiness, his powers don't matter to him. Just the small things he holds close. I also like the way he has an outside and inside view of life on Earth.

I'd say he's one of the best.

But as far as the best ever, I'll go with Spider-Man. Just seems like the most fun, admirable, realistically unrealistic superhero. It gets to the point when you read the comics and see what he has gone through and continues to go through, that you actually start to admire his character. He has never given up save for the time The Scarlet Spider took over. So I say him.

i must say, Spider-Man is my favorite character, and i think he is the most well-written, too. Silver Surfer is one of my favorites also, and i think he is very noble and honest (as Alpha Centauri said). but i still dont know many characters who are as amazing as Spider-Man.

Spider-Man gets my vote. I've explained why in hundreds of posts, so I ain't gonna bother. It's mainly because I can relate to him the most, his stories are great, and he's a "realistic" character (he doesn't fly - his powers are based on science fiction and have well thought out explanations etc). And his enemies are the greatest I have ever seen in any comic book series - and are also interesting, freaky, yet realistic (Goblin uses a glider to fly, Dock Ock has mechanical tentacles, Scorpion is same as Spider-Man but with a scorpion, Venom is just amazingly cool).

Runner up would be Batman - the iconic villains, the gadgets, the fact he's just some bloke in a suit, the cool gritty realism, and the fact it spawned Nightwing - awesome stuff.

Spider-Man, Hulk (not the grey one), Wolverine, Thor, Cyclops (yes, him), Batman, all of the Watchmen and the LXG are the best. O yeah, and Top Ten has also great heroes.

Superman, Storm, Iron Man, Nightcrawler and Silver Surfer are also okay.

Other, non-American comics with great heroes : Thorgal, Jeremiah, Lotusflower, Rork, Metabarons, XIII, Akira, Largo Winch and Corto Maltese… and many, many others…

But my favorite “hero” (ahem) is tough guy and loudmouth Kurdy Malloy : see the picture below.

Lol, that could be, he's no Silver Surfer smile. But he's cool as hell.

By the way, I wouldn't say to him what you just wrote because you'll end up dead. Or at least with a broken nose and a black eye. You'll end up looking even uglier than Kurdy smile.

The Best superhero ever definetely has to be the Green Lantern (Hal Jordan not Kyle)
