So he wrote the entire article now post-Disney? He went back and not only wrote the quote, but decided to stick in an entire Legends story as well?

He said he didn't know how much of Bane's backstory was canon, so he probably decided it was fine to use for Canon, meaning he thought it was Canon.

And for the accolade, we know for a fact he wrote it post Canon takeover.

One can notice some last-ditch 'amendments' in the content of the Force and Destiny - Core Rulebook, a 'work in progress' at the time when Disney declared EU content Legends, but published afterwards.

It happens.
