The character is actually nearly two hundreds years old. The only real difference between the two is the Jiraiya of legend did marry Tsunade towards the end of the story. I accept it's common theory Ronji inspired Jiraiya's characteristics but i doubt he played an all in all massive part in it. After all, most of Kishimoto's characters are Japanese fables, Sasuke Sarutobi, the tailed demons, Kakashi and his Raikari for examples.
This is one of the reasons i dislike not only DBZ but it's fans somewhat too. "THAT was based on DBZ!" ..... "Pff, blatantly ripped from DBZ" It's tiresome and vexing to hear, especially if anyone is actually Naive enough to think DBZ didn't rip it off something. It's been pretty much nailed into my head from various sites and people that everything in Naruto is based "obviously" off something. News flash: don't care 😐
I've seen allot of DBZ, I've seen Master Roshi, and he sucks. He's not funny, or cute, and he never struck me as seeming so wise it was sage-like. Therefore Jiraiya makes the list, Rashin i am unable to care less able.

You misunderstand. What I said is not arguable. DBZ is the archetypical Shounen manga, it is natural that it served as inspiration for those that follow, please note I am not saying this to bash the later manga or saying they are unoriginal, only inspired by it. DB itself based Goku off of Sun Wukong, and DBZ took some inspiration from Superman for his origins.
I was joking. I was not trying to change your opinion, why you are taking this so seriously I do not know, nor do I know why you are in a serious tone expressing your opinion as fact. I never found Jiraiya particularly funny. At all. The funniest thing he did was write porno novels, and that was only funny because we were able to see some of its contents ala Kakashi. I do think Jiraiya is cool and fairly badass, but less so than Roshi. Am I saying this to discredit your own view? No, it is my own opinion.
