Pelosi announced today that she is stepping down next year and while I'm happy as I've said for years all these decades long career politicians should move on, it's sad that she's doing it out of fear for her family's safety, as the next unhinged Rightist could bring a gun instead of hammer.
Jo Cox was decent working class person who got brutally murdered in public for campaigning the “wrong way” on a referendum.
Pelosi who as far as I can tell is more of a self serving prick, at retirement age anyway, rich as hell, so can afford all the lifetime security she needs.
Going to disagree, both were attacked over ideological issues by deranged rightists... in Pelosi's case it was her husband who got hit with the hammer. When Rightists Attack!
Her stepping down, if caused by fear, is a dangerous precedent, and I hate that, if that's her reason. I took it as she is old as hell, and doesn't want to be minority leader again. I was happy about that reasoning.
If you agree with Pelosi's politics and way of handling herself or not, is irrelevant. She shouldn't have been targeted and made to fear for her and her family's lives.
eg Mitch McConnell is truly a human piece of garbage, someone who has no problem taking away people's rights and healthcare to feed his already uber rich friends just a little more. But I wouldn't want him attacked with a hammer and quitting politics out of fear. He should be voted out.

You're lying again, I never said the SC justices should be targeted and I said the people who were protesting in front of their houses should face whatever legal penalties are appropriate.
Nothing deplorable out of Rightist surprises me anymore. It's because he knows he has the power and influence to keep him and his beard of a wife's marriage safe.
But Jo Cox wasnt, and had no protection, and was brutally murdered in public just for the side of a debate she was on. For campaigning on one harmless issue.
