Well, just to update my process, I have now done about half of the thread, with 1800+ scans hosted and 73 pages of text written in Word. smile

Does anyone know if "Free Comic Book Day" comics are canon? Because the Spidey comic had an absolutely hardcore webbing feat for Pete, where he webs the sh*t out of Iron Man. It said something like "Continued in ASM #???". So that leads me to believe it's acceptable canon.

I may post it regardless.

Was it the one that's been previewed in a previous ASM?

Because if it is, I'd say so.

Or the thumbnails:

The storyline for the FCBD comic is something different. This was just a teaser at the end.

And on the plus side, the main comic (not this feat) was drawn by Phil Jimenez, who is probably my favorite comic artist. Spidey's not his best subject, but there's very little that he does poorly.

...

I love the fact that he can cover someone in a matter of seconds. What bugs me is, I recall as scan showing his Uni-beam could get hotter then the surface of the sun...

I don't think it actually got hotter than the sun (which would incinerate Tony as well....easily). Pete says it feels like the sun, but it's obvious embellishment.

Indeed. And it's single-handedly a great argument for Pete over lots of people *coughLogancough*

cool

He doesn't mean in THAT instance, but the heat generated by the Unibeam has said to reach temperatures comparative with the surface of the sun.

And in THAT instance, it specifically says "unibeam, max power."

erm.

Oh. Awesome then. Webbing >> Sun.

Hooray for inconsistent writing!

Anyway, I'll discount the "hot as the sun" feat, because it would literally melt Tony if it was really that hot, as well as everything within a radius of probably 100 feet.

First, had you paid attention to your own thread you'd have seen those scans posted on page 3 ... and they state that they are from Wizard which is giving teasers to ASM #544.

Second, Lasers are thousands of times brighter than the sun, they don't blind everyone within a hundred foot radius because they are focused, just like IM's uni-beam (or Superman's heat vision)

"Brighter than the sun" and "hotter than the sun" are 2 different things. I can believe the former of the uni-beam....not the latter.

Anyway, thanks for the heads-ups. And for pointing out that they had already been posted.

laughing out loud

And that's not even maximum power.

6,327/.54 = 11,716 K
10,073/.73 = 13,798 K.

So "Unibeam max power" would be somewhere between twelve and fourteen THOUSAND kelvin.

Webbing > Fourteen Thousand Kelvin. no expression no expression no expression.

If at 73 percent, he was at 10,073 Kelvin, that would mean at 100% (uni beam "Full power," exactly what he said in the scans where Spidey webs the SHIT out of him) the uni beam would be approximately 13,798K.
