Why did Steven not do the last two batman movies?

The idea that Batman Begins is the only Batman movie worth a damn is rather laughable to me. I never would have saw Begins were it not for encouragement from a co worker of mine who knew how much I said I used to like the Pre Schumacher Batman films. I was scared after Batman and Robin but pleasantly surprised and vindicated that that era was over for Batman.

But after I saw Begins I decided to go back and really examine the older Batman movies. I bought the entire anthology for pretty cheap from Sam's Club and I watched them all and I realized once again why as a child I thought Forever and B&R sucked ass and also why I loved Tim Burton's fantasy so much.

And I personally like Frank Miller's interpretation of Batman. I know some people don't but Batman has been so many different things over the years with different writers. He was a killer to some generations, a campy guy who slept in the same bed as robin and had Batdog Batmite and some other crazy lame shit to others and then he is who he has been accepted as today to other people. But for people to act like their vision of Batman is the only one that matters is utterly ridiculous IMO.

There are some arguments to be made about the merit of all Bat films but the fact is just because a Batman film doesn't fit your current perception of Batman doesn't make it utter trash or unimportant. This may shock some people but if comic books continue on Batman 50 years from now might be a different character and people will be calling Begins rubbish and saying it needs to be burned too. I hate Shumacher's campy perception of Batman but to some people that IS Batman...sadly, lol

Well I want to clarify after re reading my post that I'm not saying bad Batman movies have not been made but I think the whole argument that a movie is bad simply because that's not the Batman you want is stupid. There are many elements to make up a bad movie beyond the character is not how you imagined them.

To me it's like some of the people who complain that Ras didn't really train Bruce and a lot of the things that happened in Begins didn't happen exactly the way it did in the comics etc. Or say if Batman had killed Ras people then classifying the movie automatically as a bad movie because of that. Regardless of all those things it was still a well made movie and I think it was cast well too.

With Begins I personally thought it was pathetic of Bruce to burn down the whole compound over disagreement in principles of executing a murderer, and then save Ras with his dangerous ideas and leave him in a village like he was just going to get a day job after what Bruce did. Irresponsible actions indeed for a man who thinks that cleansing societies is okay. And did he even bother to make sure that guy who was a murderer got the fair trial he preached about him deserving? He could've very well freed a murderer back into society with his concern in saving a crazy man because he grew fond of him. I didn't think Batman would do that. But that doesn't mean I think Begins is a bad movie.
