Depa lost to mace, so therefore Obi wan would lose? I dont get what you are saying. Anyway, Obi wan is the likely choice here.

Obi-Wan. He defeated Darth Vader, survived the Jedi Purge, because a Jedi Spirit, knows Soresu, defeated Darth Maul as a Padawan, defeated General Grievous, survived 2 duels with Darth Tyranus, he could beat Depa.

i meant that both depa and obi would lose to mace. so they would be equally matched

Not entirely...Depa losing to mace was a different story. She was a walking monster because of Vaapad. Not because she is weaker, but Mace would still beat her. smile

Mace beat he, yes. But Depa would likely wreck Obi-wan. For one thing, Depa has been a jedi master since TPM. Secondly, she was considered a Vaapad master before her fall in Shatterpoint. And third, she can slaughter an entire gunship of soldiers in under a minute (Something like twenty to thirty people). She's simply more deadly than Obi-Wan, who relies on counterattacks and exploiting weaknesses.

Yes, thats the point I was about to make out. Even with a master defence style, unpredicted moves would most likely defeat Obi wan. Would she recognized soresu? Hell yeah its one of the basic styles all jedi learn. I would like to see Obi Wan figure out Vaapad.

Well, Vaapad users know more of Soresu than Soresu masters know of Vaapad. And in any case, I doubt Obi-Wan was a "true" Soresu master as of ROTS since its stated that a true master would be virtually undefeatable in saber combat. Obi-Wan still got owned by Dooku, albeit hm... I guess it was force powers.

It was, but dooku would own him any way. And I said exactly what you said in the first sentence.

I agree. However, note that never once does anyone aside from Dooku manage to break Obi-Wan's defenses in such a way. Grievous gets positively owned, Anakin gets a kick or two in, but it is only the Count who manages to anything significant. And he is a master of Makashi, who has been practicing the form for twice as long as Obi-Wan was bloody well alive. Blade manipulation at its finest. Not to mention that he actually only pierces Kenobi's defenses with Force attacks.

That is a good point. Obi-Wan could potentially have the best saber defense.

Mace says specifically that Obi-wan is THE Soresu Master. He was the best Soresu user alive, past Luminara. Against Depa, I don't know.

Well, outside of Yoda. But I wouldn't attribute that to saber skills so much as acrobatics.

Anyway, I'd say that this could go either way. Depa's style is aggressiveness at its peak, unpredictable, ravaging aggression. The exact opposite of Obi-Wan's methodical, defensive manuevers. She is a lightsaber monster, and would probably be capable of defeating him. But Anakin was a superior duelist, as was Maul. And look what happened to them. It's all in the head, and that's where Obi-Wan truly shines above everyone else.

Case in point. If Depa went off the... deep end, it's over.

Yep. It could potentially go in either combatant's favor, but I'm leaning towards Obi-Wan.

He dident own him in AOTC with force attacks. He toyed with him and then gave him a few cuts. And then playfully twirled his lightsaber.

ROTS was a different story, but dooku could definetly break his defenses, he only had anakin to worry aboout, so he just found the easiest way to eliminate obi wan, thats all...

Obi-Wan wasn't a Soresu master by AOTC. I thought you knew this. And he didn't 'toy' with him, either. It was a fight, plain and simple. He taunted him every now and then, but the two were going at it hard until the final stroke.

If he could have, I'm sure he would have taken out Kenobi using the saber. If his 'orders' were to slay Obi-Wan and introduce to Anakin the Dark Side, then a lightsaber through the stomach would be more effective than a Force Push, no?

Yes, but they were each both on him like flies on a sandwich with mold. Where did he have the opprotunity to strike obi wan?

What would you prefer after back-kicking anakin?

Continue to fight obi wan hopefully getting past his defenses or force choke and knock him out..? Its your call.

It's not just back-kicking Anakin. If Dooku is so superior, he could have hurled Anakin into something, stunning him, and then slaughtered Kenobi. why didn't he do this? Because he couldn't.
