Chapter 1
-Ageless.
I walked down the grimy sidewalk. Chasing my shadow. Just by that you can see how much time I have on my hands. Yep, that’s me Rory “dontgotnolastname”. Nope, never had one, never needed one. I strolled down the sidewalk, dodging oncoming people and pot holes, eyes trained on the dirty sidewalk. I shifted my gaze to the building on my left. New York was full of glorious buildings, so high they seemed to touch the sky. The windows, shiny like a huge mirror. I saw another Rory staring back at me. She had long, straight, midnight black hair with red highlights. Her eyes were blue with underlying tones of gold and red. Her pupiles were slits, cat-like almost. She was thin and tall, about 5,6 and 16 years old. She was wearing a deep fushia coat wit long sleaves that came down to her knees. A pair of faded blue jeans and a black, long- sleave shirt that said “ the Ramones” on it. She was carrying a tan messenger bag on her side. That was my favorite bag…from Target, none the less. With all the the fancy stores here, no one could afford anything. Well, at least I couldn’t. I was wearing a pair of brown leather gloves, with holes in them between the knuckles, I’ll get to why later. I crossed 5th and turned on to Broadway. Today was a windy day and my hair kept flying in my face. I continued down Broadway until I came to a small brownstone. I pulled my key out of my bag and pushed it into the lock. The door swung open and I was greeted with a blast of warm air. I had left the heater on again, damn, the heating company would kill me. oh well. I slid off my bag and dropped it on my favorite brown leather chair. My house was modern, most of the walls were white, except for the on in the kitchen which was a spring green and one in my bedroom which was a deep red.Ok, so as I was saying. I dropped my bag on my favorite brown chair and walked to the kitchen. I was starving. I hadn’t eaten since yesterday and it was like, way past lunch. I threw a messy sandwich together and sat at my tiny table eating it. I pulled off my gloves and hung my coat up on the coat rack. It amazed me how dirty my room was, but the rest of my house was so clean. I threw away the remains of my ham sandwich and walked to my bedroom. I pulled open my red curtains and flipped on th light on my desk. Not like I ever did any work there. I don’t go to school and I am too young to have a job. My wasn’t I living with my parents you ask? Because I’m different. My parents were murdered because of me. memories flooded back into my head and I tried to suppress them, choking back tears, I did. The walls of my room were covered with news paper clippings and magazine articles. On almost every single one, the headline read, Winged Vigalante Strikes Again. Or something retarded like that. Don’t ask why, I’m building suspense here. Ugh Idiot. I threw myself on my bed and sat there. I had a rough life, let me tell you. Just then I heard sierins blaring,
‘ WEEEEEEEEEERRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” I jumped off my bed and ran, to my closet in my study. I opened it and, hanging amongst my clothes, was my costume, well it was not really a costume. I was just what I wore when I went to kick butt. It was made completely out of leather with two slits in the back. It was all black with leather sholder pads. I wasn’t just one piece of lleather but had lineds running across it. I pulled it on and ran up the stairs. I didn’t bother to where a mask, no one knew who I was anyway. I ran up the stairs and out onto the roof. There was a strong breeze coming from the north. I stood there for a moment. I loved feeling the wind in my face. I remembered the first time I had flown, oops…you weren’t supposed to know that. I took a running start and lept off the side of the building. I unfurled my black wings and they filled with air. I immediately was pulled up, away from the busy street below. Yep, I had wings and yep, I could fly. There was nothing like flying, anyone who has never flown, has never really lived. My wings were a gleaming black with a sliver tone peaking through when they caught the sun. I soared gracefully over New York city.with my acute senses, I could still hear the sierins from far above the city. I could see them too, racing along like little white and red ants. They were heading towards the old prison on the othe side of town. I beat my wings again and followed suit.

Tu Estas Un Afietarse...
I landed gracefully on the prison roof and climbed in thru a long broken window. Everything in the prison was schorched. The city had shut it down after ot caught on fire 30 years ago. I crept throught the burned halls, trying not to make too much noise. Why were the sierins coming here? There was no on else here except me. or so I thought. I crept down the hallway. Suddenly I heard a huge crash.i spun around to see a man on the opposite end of the hallway. He was tall, looked much older than me and had pointed black hair. he too, was wearing something like my costume, weird right?
“ Who are you?” I yelled down to him.
“ same question!” he yelled.
“ I asked first!” I called back playfully. The man obviously did not understand the word playful. He bagan run towards me. I checked to see if my gloves were aligned and slid out my claws. They were about a foot long, like silver knives coming out from between my knuckles. I opened my wigs to their full extent, 14 feet to be exact and shifted my weight into a fighting stance. The man stopped, bout a yard or two away from me.i heard a loud tssshhh and saw that he too had claws. I gasped.
“ who are you?” I whispered. He lunged at me, claws bared. I blocked them and drove mine into his stomach. The man yelled but raised his hand and clawed me across the, face. Ow. That stung. I poulled my claws out of his stomach and clawd him across th face as well. I wondered if he had the same adimantium skeleton as me? if he did, well this duel would last forever.
I lunged at the strange black haired girl. I had been sent here for reconnisence, didn’t expect to find anyone else here. Suddenly, there was a lould swishing sound and the girl extended her claws. O ####. The thought. How come professor hadn’t told me she was in NY?! The girl was different from me too though. She had wings! Huge dark black wings extended from her shoulder blades. I stopped a yard or two away from her and extended my claws as well. Like hers, they extended from between my knuckles, thank you Stryker.
“ who are you?” she said. I threw myself at her. she blocked me and drove here claws in my stomach. I yanked my hand free and clawed her in the face. She freed her hand clawed me back. I drove my claws in to her stomach, the girl gasped. Then she stared at me, I saw all the cuts on her face heal back up. Oh ####. I thought she was like me. adamantium skeleton. Nothing could kill either of us.
Oh ####, he was like me. neither of us would ever die. I grabbed his hands and pulled myself free. I leapt behind him and drove my claws into his back. The strange man gasped as I wraped my othe hand around his neck. He reached from behind and shoved his claws into my stomach again. I growled. Rather unlike me, but this man was starting to annoy me. I jammed my other claws into his back and lifted him off the ground. With all my might, I threw him against the wall.Gah! That puny girl just threw me against the wall! I landed with a loud thud against the concrete. Just then I heard th professors voice in my head
“Are you alight Logan?” he asked.
“ no, this girl remainds me a lot like myself, literally”
“I’ll see what I can do…”
The man hit the wall with a sickening thud. Suddenly, there was a voice in my head, it said
“Rory…why are you attacking someone so like you? I know you want to find out who he is.” I shook my head vigorously, trying to get the voice out. My eyes widened and I shuddered as it came again,“Rory. I know you want to be accepted, be with people like you. I can feel what you’re feeling. There is a lot of pain in your past. Horrific deads done to you and the people around you. I can help.” I slammed my fist against my head
“ get out of my head!” I screeched. So loud that the man covered his ears. Memories came flooding back to me again, the School, Erasers, Stryker, Experiment Talon. I screeched louder.
“do not fear me, I am only here to help. Stop attacking htat man, his name is Logan, he will take you home.” I shuddered again, frozen with fear. What was happening to me? this voice… my left eye burned. Like someone had taken a white hot fire poker and jabbed me with it. I screeched again, suddenly, the whole left side of my vision went black. Then a splitting pain racked my brain like my head was being ripped in two. Suddenly, I could see again in my left eye, except everything was different. I could see numbers, readouts. I immediately thought of Stryker. suddenly, thechical readouts flooded my eye. I then realized that they were the schematics for Strykers lab on Alkilile lake. All I had to do was think, and the readouts, schematics and past info of the place appered before my eyes. Make it go away! I thought, and it did. My vision turned back to normal What the? I thought of the schematics for my house. And the schematics popped up again.this was crazy.
“are you alright Rory?” the voice said. I nodded and screamed
“ WHAT DO YOU WANT?!?”
“ To help you.” The voice said. I fell silent.
The black haired girl, who had been shuddering and screeching, quieted down. The professor was in her mind. I could sense it. Then he spoke to me
“ Logan, this girl is tired and scared. I have contacted Jean and Storm. They will meet you on the roof in five minutes with the jet. Get her collected by then.” I growled, I hated looking after rotten kids, there were enough of them as is in the school already. The girl had crumpled to the floor, still shuddering. I got up and held out my hand
“ Need a hand?” I said. The girl raised her head. Her stare was hard. Her eyes, a mix of blue, gold and red. They were almost catlike. Her black and red streaked hair fell limp around her and she was covered in a film of sweat. She looked to only be like sixteen or something. She nodded and grabbed my hand; she wore black gloves, much like mine. Her grasp was hard; she was obviously much stronger than she looked. The professor had defiantly said something to her because she didn't attack, only leaned on me for support. She was shivering all over. I put my hand on the small of her back and we walked up the half-scorched steps to the roof.
The strange man… er… Logan had his arm around me; we had walked up the steps and were on the roof. Suddenly, there was a huge blast of air as something descended from the sky. It was a jet. It landed noiselessly on the roof and the bottom opened up and stairs came down. Logan led me up the stairs and into the jet. I was too tired from my spaz attack to protest now. The inside of the get was huge; there were seats to the left and right, and more stairs going down to the left. In the front of the jet, there were two seats, both with people in them. I gulped. The chairs swiveled around and two women stood up. One was African American and had white hair. She was very tall and was wearing a black “ costume” with a cape. The other woman had short, red hair and was wearing a similar outfit. The two introduced themselves as Storm and Jean. I was too tired to listen and was strapped into a seat next to Logan. I heard the jet take off and drifted into sleep.
