The Ironies of the Harry Potter books

Hello

After reading the Harry Potter books I noticed several clever ironies woven within the storyline, some very obvious and some quite subtle but all interesting...............For example here are three of them.......

1) A perfectly defenceless baby was responsible for the "demise" of the world's second most powerful wizard. I know Lily Potter was indirectly responsible with her "Mother's love" But it was still Harry who ended up defeating him as a child, yet alone an adult. There has been in the Order of the Phoenix and the Half Blood prince the building up of Harry becoming a man and facing Voldermort, yet he has never lost to him, even when he was almost completely defenceless.........

2) Hermione is one of the smartest students yet isn't deemed to be of pure wizard blood. Yet we have people like Ron or Neville who have extremely obvious failings amongst their characteristics. Malfoy is another example.

3) A muggle loving frail old wizard has always and will always be the thing voldermort fears most, even when he isn't alive. How so?? Well its common knowledge there was pretty much two things Voldermort feared. Firstly he was afraid of Dumbledore. Dumbledore being alive = Voldermort being afraid. The second thing Voldemort fears most is his own Mortality or in other words, becoming dead. Dumbledore by dying has already proven that he has become the second thing Voldermort fears most.

These are just a few from the top of my head, can anyone think of anymore subtle ironies???? big grin

I agree, and I would also like to point out how Voldemort is like Hitler in many ways. He kills or try to kills everyone who isn't perfect in his eyes. He is like those that he despises, and yet he still wishes to kill them. And he is a tyrant. He fears those who fight against him because (like Dumbledore said) he has made an enemy as tyrant's all over the world do everyday. He not only fulfilled the prophecy, he handpicked the man for the job.

Another irony is that numerous ministry officials and powerful witches and wizards of the age all refer to voldemort as you know who. It's a sign of fear. Yet 3 or 4 spotty teenagers aren't afraid of saying his name..........

Yes... I think thats because they have come to think that Voldemort is easy to defeat as Harry and others have done it before! You have to remember, Harry is classed as a powerful wizard... He has defeated Voldemort 7 times...

1. When he was a baby (Book 1 - PS/SS)
2. When he used Quirrel (Book 1 - PS/SS)
3. When the Chamber Of Secrets was reopened (Book 2 - CoS
4. At the Triwizard tornament, when he made his return (Book 4 - PoA)
5. At the ministry (Book 5 - OotP)
6. When the Death Eaters invaded the school (Book 6 - HBP)

yeah, and he didn't defeat Voldermort or really anyone else in the sixth book, so he only defeated voldermort 5 times.

Really, Voldie did nothing when he was with Quirrell. Mostly, it was Quirrell.

Really, Voldie did nothing in the Chamber. Mostly, it was the Basalisk.

Really, Harry did nothing when he was a Baby. I'll give credit to Mom.

Yeah, he was there.

Book 1:
Harry's Mom did the work the First time. She Sacrificed herself. She gave him the Way to Defeat Voldie. Harry Kicked back. Not quite Defeating Tom himself, In My Opinion.

Book 1:
Voldie likes to yell things Like: 'Seize Him!", and "Kill him, Fool!". Never, does he yell anything like: "Go grab a Beer, Quirinus, I got this.", Or "I'll take care of him..". Credit goes to Quirinus, Who failed Anyway. stick out tongue

Chamber:
Again, Voldie is Screeching "Kill Him!". (To the Basalisk). He also Says: "Kill the Boy! Smell Him!"... Blah. Then, the Snake Croaks, and Harry Stabbs the Book. Yay. It's not Beating him if you don't.. Beat him. What the f**k?

OK then!!!!! Harry has accomplished many things a grown adult wizard hasn't... He has defeated the Basilisk, Quirrel... Has conqured the Death Eaters twice and has narrowly escaped Voldemort 3 times...

Please don't contradict me again lol! laughing
